where to put my tripod
I want to take my full size tripod on trips. Where can I mount it that won't get banged up. It's a aluminum Monfrotto Bogan and I'm using Jessie's but without the lid racks. I don't want metal banging and scraping on metal on long trips. Has anybody got an idea of what I can put the tripod inside and then strap down? Also, the head end is oversized with 3 large handles.

Wrap the legs in the insulation used for outdoor pipes. The dark grey foamm stuff. Works well. I have carried a tripod to Alaska with no issues. Tape over the legs to hold in place. Cheap solution.

bumps and scrapes give it character.
I think it's going to be hard to do. Maybe a soft tripod case and rok straps or bungee? The pipe insulation would work but where do you store it when not in use?

get a cheaper tripod for dedicated moto/water use. I've got a bogen 3001 that I use when ever I don't want to trash my "good" one.

I had a plastic hose manufactured to store my tripod while traveling :
unpacked: inside with ballhead protected from dust and water : On the bike : Itīs not mounted perfectly, only for the pic. But u get the idea : Itīs basically a hose for tubes to be used on Trucks, 125mm Diameter outside, length 70cm to fit the Manfrotto 190XPROB and the Ballheadīs Dimension.
