Missoula to Bozeman Suggestions?
Hey y'all....
Back in Zoo town for the summer and I'm going down to Bozeman to visit some friends for the weekend in a few weeks. I'd like to take the bike (KTM 450exc dualed up) but really don't want to slab I90 for 3 hours. Any suggestions for tame dirt or even twisty back roads; my range is a bit more than 160/tank? Oh yeah and I might have a 1200GS tagging along on the return... ![]() Thx! Jon |

Good Route?
Think I got one planned....
I90 over to Rock Creek. Rock creek through to Philipsburg. South on Hwy 1 to Mill Cr Road then Down to Hwy 43. Take that east over to Divide, south to Melrose. From there hop on Melrose to Twin Bridges Hwy ending up on Hwy 287. I'll loop that around until hooking up with 84 East in Norris. Sound reasonable? Thx! |

I did a fun trip from Florence to Bozeman two years ago on my XR650L. A lot of it was dirt, and all of it was fun.
93 south past Darby, up the dirt to Gibbons Pass and the Divide. Down the hill to Wisdom for a burger at Fetty's, then south and east on pavement through Jackson. Twin Bridges, Virginia City then back on the dirt to Bannack. Horse Prairie road down to the highway again, and then on up to Dillon and away to Bozeman. I might have some of this out of order, just going off memory.....but a look at the map will help out there. Horse Prairie road: ![]() Oh, there's bugs in the Big Hole alrighty..... ![]() Where I slept with the badgers: one of the coolest camps ever. Miles and miles of trail across big country.
