DIY Simple Bike Stand

In an effort to become a better welder. Here's a simple but useful project.
it easily picks up my 07 450exc. A lot better than getting up on the table
and trying to lift the bike onto a wooden stand. You should be able to figure
it out just from the pictures.

happy welding
Dennis

nice

A lot better than the step stool + 2x4 jobby I'm using. I'd like to find/buy/build a something or other that I can use to help in putting together an on the road stand. Something that would help me build a one time use stand outta stuff laying around (logs etc) or help lift the bike onto the improv stand. Ideas?

The first question is what is the target bike you want to lift?
While the lift above works great for a 450, I tried it on my 950se and
it bent the handle. Partially because I used cheap Home Depot black pipe.

It's just a little 300# (not counting camping gear etc.) Yamaha WR250R. It isn't all that heavy but I really don't know how I'd get it off the ground if I need to fix a flat or adjust the chain while traveling. Especially if I were riding solo. Nice bike by the way.

Back in the day, when I was riding a H-D,had a buddy weld up this handy stand, works like a charm. I also have a single one, similar to the one you show here.
