A point of concern to Orlando residents...

It's happening in Orlando, just wait till it happens in your community. Don't let ignorant council members take away rescue resources!

We just wrote a story about this:

http://www.orlandoweekly.com/feature...y.asp?id=13211

Basically, the mayor is threatening to cut police and fire jobs so the city can keep a lot of money in the bank. That way, they keep their bond rating up so they can build stupid shit, like a new stadium for the fucking Magic, who are owned by a billionaire, Rich DeVos, better known as the asshole who started Amway. Don't get me started on welfare for sports teams

All this while Forbes magazine just rated Orlando the 6th most dangerous city in the country. This city is run by children.

Pretty much sums it up.The City has been trying to anex my neighborhood for years. Thank dog we have stopped them everytime. I would be pissed if I had to pay city taxes so the magic can get a new arena because the current one doesn't have enough sky boxes. Fuck the Magic let the losers move.

Hadn't been downtown in quite awhile and noticed the new arena next to I-4...in these times, WTF?

So these "deletions" have a political element to them?

Would never have guessed.

I just realized it makes a lil more sense (the point I was trying to make) when the sidebar info is included:

This was a 2 alarm fire on September 1, 2007 in station 11's first due on Conway Rd.

Without every single piece of equipment and every single firefighter on that scene, we most certainly would have had a loss of life.

Just listen to the mother on the phone as she was trapped in her bathroom with smoke and flames coming in, and she had no way out.

The City of Orlando is laying-off 46 firefighters in order to pay for such things as the performing arts center, the citrus bowl renovation, etc. All things that need to eventually come to Orlando but, not on the backs of your police and firefighters. The truth of the matter is that we don't need a NEW performing arts center when our nation is in the middle of a financial crisis. We need to maintain the highest level of service possible and you just can't do that with fewer personnel and closing down stations. Folks, we need you to help us gather as much support as you can through friends, co-workers, family. HELP US REACH 5,000 SUPPORTERS. SHARE THIS PAGE WITH EVERYONE ON YOUR FRIENDS LIST AND THEN HAVE THEM DO THE SAME. Anyone can express their outrage...and believe me, they're listening.

The funny thing is that the local cities are farming out their PD and FD to City of Orlando to "save money". :/

Good work on that article Scribe! I am amazed at the number of people that put their tax receipts ahead of basic safety.

Not to mention the "stadiums uber alles" attitude.

Morons all.

Regards,
Peter
