As promised,,, when I got the TrailTech conversion in the works. I've been fiddling with the BD light. Prototype is pretty much worked out, I need to get a production sample from the machine shop and work out a couple small details yet.

And you can still use the protective cover...

Hmmmm,,,, maybe there is no interest in these.

Please speak up if you're at all interested,,,, if no one is interested I won't bother laying out the cash to produce the conversion.

Still interested in the Trail Tech version.

Are you going to be able to produce a cover for the lens like BD has for their light?

I assume your asking this to save shipping costs to EU???? This will be a kit with the adaptor and the H4 reflector.

The price for my TrailTech conversion is $105 shipped CONUS. I expect this unit to be right around the same but until I have everything sorted I can't commit to a firm price.

Installed mine today and it's a huge improvement. I will be doing a half assed write up on Cafe Husky and can put it here as well if wanted.

Thanks Scott for answering my stupid questions, this is how this light should be shipped for people that ride on the street too.

Boatman has your ticket here in a brilliant kit that is a no brainer even for idiots like me.

Package arrived and I dove into it even though I did not have the time to finish the install that evening. Everything was nicely packed and instructions to boot.

Items included in the kit

BD Light taken apart and the first "ring" gets laid into place. Keep the BD gasket in place

Place the new Hella housing in place

Next place the second ring to the back of the light housing. Note the yellow dot at the top per instructions.

Add your bulb (sold separately), the rubber grommet and either a pig tail or you can use spade connectors and more or less make your own harness.

Almost there. Looks good.

Time for a

I decided to use my stock plug from the OEM light as I will never use that light again and if I do I will worry about that then. Few splices and it was time to button it up.

Here are a few pics. STOCK Husky Headlight (since I had it on the bike already

BD Light with Boatman's Conversion (Low Beam)

High Beam

Just found this thread after seeing it mentioned in the Husky TE-610 thread.

I recently bought a TE-610 that came with the 8" BD headlight only and although I like the light output when I need it, I really hate not having a low beam. I keep the light pointed low as to not blind on coming drivers, but on a back road when I need the light, that just gets annoying. I have really been on the fence about replacing this light with something else as I just wasn't happy with this setup, but this conversion might be exactly what I need.

So I assume with the H4 conversion, you get a proper low beam cutoff? With the high beam, do you get a bit more wider beam and is the light output still pretty good? It appears the stock BD beam although shines very far is pretty narrow also and doesn't really illuminate the side of the road very well to watch for animals.

Take a look at the first post for pics of the illumination. The pic of the low clearly shows the the cutoff and the hi shows the spread.
