F800GS/F650GS Tank Conversion
Just got the 2009 Touratech catalogue and they're featuring a tank conversion kit that takes the total volume to 36 litres by adding attachments on either side of the "faux tank". Doesn't appear to be on the web site just yet and no pricing in the Price List.

The cover has what looks like a badly photoshopped picture:

36 liters!
That'll give us close to a 500 mile range! I want it, but I'm not sure I'd ever bother to fill it up unless I was in for serious slabbing. That's a lot of weight to haul around! David

I'd like to see how it installs on the bike, how you get the fuel in there (would you need to use two fillers, or would the new filler fill the stock tank as well?), how well the current crop of crash protection fits, and how well it integrates with the lines. I'm staying tuned.

Bigger print for those of us who need a little, ahem, help.
![]() ![]() Paul, it's hard to tell from the scan. Does it retain the "air scoops"?

I'm not really interested in re-crashbarring this rig. With my SW Motech bars and those of you running the Wild at Hearts, I really don't see these tanks being compatible. Too bad. I'm set to toss a rotopax fuel container on the back and will live with it if these don't pan out. |

The version for the older F650 is listed in the 2007 Catalog on page 421.
I reckon the newer setup is pretty similar. A photo in that catalog shows the tanks and the special plumbing needed that hooks the auxillary tanks into the main tank. |

The TT big tanks for the F650 Dakar was around $3000 in Australia, this will probably be just as ridiculous. My Kolpin set-up cost me $110 and if I don't need it I can take it off in 30 seconds!! I'd rather wait until BMW does an Adventure with big tank, adjustable suspension etc etc, and it will probably only be 3K more than the GS anyway???

Actually I couldn't care less over the tank conversion, but the adjustable screen seems really good. But first I have to buy me an F800GS of course.
