KTM 690 Enduro gearing

I'm sure this must be hiding in the merged thread, I just could not find it. Any rule of thumb on final drive gearing for this bike for various conditions. I admit I'm a novice at this but you got to start somewhere. Any big DON'T's ?

i like to stock gearing 15/45 it good for every thing rev a little hi when sitting on the freeway at 110kph , just just mine to 16\45 and its a little tall for in the bush 16/46 is next on the list

Countershaft

The golden rule with the lc4, past and present, keep a 15T or higher. If you want more pickup 15/47or8. Three on back equals 1 on the front. Dropping to a 14 is tightening the angle to much.

What's your thoughts on running a 14 x 48 set up? I've found that 15 x 45 makes it tough to crawl up rough single track without overpowering the rear.

Countershaft sprocket question

I wasn't sure about the best place to post this question, either in the Wunderfest thread or revive an older gearing thread, so here goes; I just put on a 16 tooth countershaft sprocket on my 2013 690 enduro because of an upcoming trip with quite a bit of highway miles. The stock 15 tooth sprocket has the rubber "damping" pieces on both sides, and the KTM 16 tooth sprocket did not come with any and the ones from the stock one won't fit due to the diameter difference (the 16 tooth sprocket does have holes in it as if it could take similar rubber pieces).

What is the rubber for, NVH reduction? Do I need to look for similar pieces for the 16 tooth sprocket?. For now I am going to run it without any, and I think many aftermarket sprockets are solid anyway so you could not mount rubber on them. Thanks in advance for any info.

I went from 15/45 to 14/45 to test it and keep the same chain. For pure offroad, it is too high for me (Hatfield/McCoy). For the mix I normally do, it seems OK. I may go to 15/48 later if the rear will fit with the chain guide.
