Rear suspension adjustment for pillion (GSA)
This might be a question for GSpot, but for those inmates that know in this neck of the woods, what is the general rule of thumb for adjusting preload on the rear shock on a non-ESA GSA when say a 65 kg pillion gets on board? Is there a kg/click rule? Or is it suck it and see?

In all honesty viz just play with it. I found that the suspension loosened up a lot as the k's mounted up. I think you'll find that you'll 'feel' where the settings should be. When they are right, the bike won't feel much different when loaded than it feels when you are solo. It's all down to feel, so keep notes on where the original settings were if you are worried about them. Your bike is a lot newer than mine, so things are a lot different suspension wise but this is how it happened with my old girl. The rebound adjustment makes a huge difference too, so don't be afraid to play with thst as well. (Go for a spin with a screwdriver in the top of your boot and play with the rebound. You'll be suprised.) Remember only to adjust one thing at a time to feel what the changes feel like. Might pay to take that notebook with you if you do that... or at least write down the original settings so you can reset them if you get lost..

Thanks for that Nick. At the moment it is set as per the manual and feels reel good for the tar, but off-road the rear hops a lot. Not too worried about that, as I am doing a heap of tar at the moment (1800 km in 3 weeks). When it is time to do dirt, will experiment some more, but as you say keep a notbook.
