ER6N questions

Anyone owners out there with good luggage solutions? I'm just wondering whether anyone's fitted hard bags to their ER6N.

As a companion question, just what exactly are the differences between the 650R, ER6N, and the Versys (aside from the obvious bodywork). Are they pretty much the same once the plastic is peeled back? That is, will any luggage system which works on the Versys also work on the ER?

Sorry if this has been hashed over before ... I searched, but found nothing.

Any ER6N owners in the Milwaukee WI area?

suggest you check at www.twistedthrottle.com

I believe the rear subframes are the same between the ER6N and 650R, but I have the older '06 model Ninja 650R. Versys is different.

part numbers for Givi rack for EX650A6F are PLX445 (v35 sidecases) and FZ445 (monokey or monolock topcase).

I don't know the differences offhand, but there must be some since the sidecase racks are slightly different. There are a few pics out there with 650R's with the Givi PLX hard case setup. You can browse TwistedThrottle.com bike-specific.

I had a 08 650R (ER6F) with the "SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock Sidecarrier", "Givi Monokey adapter" and two "Givi E21 side cases". this was a great setup and easy to install. I bought it all from Twisted Throttle. feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

The 650R/ER6F stuff fits, the only difference between those bikes is
in angle of the front shocks. There's Givi / Kappa stuff available, sidecases,
topcases, the lot.

...

Thanks again for all the info ... it's coming in handy, I did find something in the Kawi 650 family, a low-mile one-owner 2008 650R.

Looking to sell off the front fairing and replace it with a headlight & larger windscreen, add some bags, etc. I think for now I'll look for a deal on a luggage rack, so I can use a large tank or tail bag on the rack/rear seat, and then I can build a rack for some hard bags to attach to that.

Pissed ER6N handlebar risers

Anyone know where I can get risers for my er6n. I have looked on twisted throttle and such and found nothing unless I am over looking something. I am also still looking for luggage as well.

Thanks

Since the ER6N has a tubular handlebar, you can always simply swap the bar itself for one with a different bed. I don't know of any bar risers for the kwak 650 twins, off the top of my head - most folks want lower, not higher.

Check renthal and suburban machinery for replacement bars the same diameter as the ER6N's.

It appears that Givi has a new line of luggage kits and a decent windshield at this site. Looks really good, but I don't see it on the Givi site yet??

Also, for luggage, twistedthrottle.com has a SW Motech option- sidecase racks and a top rack. It says that you can use the SW Motech adaptors to attach Pelicans and other cases to it. I'm looking into that one, or seeing if I can get one custom made. I'd rather have the weight over the pillion seat than hanging off the back.

I think you're wrong about the front shocks, as far as I am aware the 650R (also called the ER-6F elsewhere) is exactly the same as the ER-6N other than the body work (and some tabs on the frame to mount the body work). Versys is completely different frame, shocks, etc but the engine is the same with different cams and different tuning. Check out Ninja650Shop.com for aftermarket accessories that fit both. There are risers on there and several handlebar options. brp650forum.com, riderforums.com, and kawiforums.com are all great places to find info on this bike. A lot of aftermarket stuff for the 06-08 years will fit and work on the 09+ models.

I was commenting on the ER6n vs. 650R/ER6F, I'm aware the latter are
the same bike called differently in various parts of the world (no rear
grab rails though on the 650R.). I own the 2007 EU ER6F w/ABS.

As for the ER6n vs. 650R/ER6f shock thing I mentioned..
it IS exactly the same, however, the ER6n's front fork rake angle is
slightly different, resulting in a 1 or 1,5cm shorter (I forget, I knew
this in 2007 when I bought the bike) wheelbase on the naked version.

That's about 0,4-0,6".

Checked the specs. You're right. My mistake. Never heard of that before in all my time frequenting the forums specific to those bikes.
