Tasmania Loop

Hiya,
Got the bike ready for a trip to Tasmania an island south of the mainland BIG island Australia with some very nice scenery and roads leaving from Sydney.
Here is what the nice silica roads look like but you have to get there first and its a pretty long way.

Added spot map a bit rough but it will give people from thw rest of the world a rough idea of where I went

Bike packed and looking very clean Ktm 640adv 07

First stop through the national park Garie beach lookout still early and nice no wind, people live in those shacks from the depression era still have leases some really cool ones no road there so you have to cart your supplies in on a wheel barrow.

Coastal cliff road snaking along the cliffs.

Nowra to Braidwood road supposed to be mostly gavel but being upgraded now DO NOT USE IT you get stopped by the road workers and they then escort you at 20kmh max 40kmh for about an hour total waste of time bike overheating and me overheating as well.

using the camping iphone app new free one only for NSW and found this site near Bombala
http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/thats...351738368?mt=8
It just tells you what is around where you are with a brief description this one had a toilet fireplaces that was all i needed

I was filling up in Bombala and thought to ask a local directions to the campsite the petrol station attendant says I have no clue but the guy behind you will know. I turn around and it is a National parks and wildlife guy in his uniform, he gets the maps from the display and tells me all the stuff to see how to get there etc off we go on 20km of fire trails great riding.
The road to camp looks like this with forestry trails branching off everywhere

The campsite in amongst the tall woods after some great gravel tracks

Found this fresh mushroom so cooked it up with some Army stuff

I cooked this meal up then the gas cylinder ran out so need a new one
soon

This is what the roads from the campsite look like back to the main road and Delegate in the morning

The logging is pretty savage

A lot of exploring to be done in this area there were tracks branching off all the main roads

The Twisty road to Delegate absolutely amazing I see why the Victorians use it a lot at one stage there was a sign saying 65km of windy road i thought it meant 6.5km but it just goes on and on plus the scenery is superb.

I stopped to take this photo and a local stopped to ask if i was ok

This was the guy stopping to see if i needed help

A toilet stop beside the road you get scenes like this the whole road has stunning scenes I only took these few definitely ride this road heaps of fun.

Great posting! I had no idea Tassie was so green; for some reason I kind of had the impression it was a desert.

More pics! More pics!

I believe those pics are taken on that little island north of Tassie.
Tassie is actually even greener than that.

Looking forward to more pics of my home-island. It's a beautiful place for motorcycling - on the road ond off as well.

Three of us did this ride in Jan 2010 and it was a combination of good and bad, lots of good dirt from Braidwood and then we got to Nerriga. It was hot and we were tired so we sat and had a beer in the pub. Met two guys (father and son) and the sons girlfriend/wife... after about 15 minutes the son runs out of the pub with the father right behind. We watched them start to fight in the middle of the road about 100m back towards Braidwood and when they came back to the pub they both had big scratches on their faces from where they were beating each other up (against the road surface)..... it was all about whether or not the son should smoke around the woman who was pregnant (son yes, father no).

We left and managed to get stuck behind a load of cars that did anywhere from 5kph to 40kph for the next 40klms.....

Took the shine off a great ride (although having one of the bikes fall over and do damage to itself in Braidwood was another low spot).

Once this road is finished it will still be 'ok' but it will be a loss..... do it while you can.
