What bike do you want today?

If you guys are like me then there is always a bike that you want, and it changes on a nearly daily basis! I often stumble across something while browsing the internet, or see something riding down the road that sparks a 24 hour love affair!

Today.....

One rode past me in the opposite direction when I was driving back from the shops yesterday sparking a flurry of internet research and daydreaming!

Triumph Tiger 1050 SE.

That was yesterday and today.

Oh, and a BMW R1200 RT. That's been an on again, off again affair.

Seeing as I just got the bike I've wanted for a while now (Suzuki DL650) I'm pretty content on the Want! front. However, that said, I'm really curious about the F650/800GS BMW, I just think they're neat. I've yet to test ride one and am curious if they really live up to the hype of the brand/model, but I can't see myself spending double my 'Strom over what for now equates to idle curiosity.

CM:

I've had BMW 3 RTs since '99. My most recent is an '05 1200 with Wilbers shocks. The rear one is triple adjustable (High and low speed compression, rebound, and spring preload).

I highly recommend a pre-gearhead 1200 RT because you can adjust the valves so easily by yourself. They don't have all the gizmos the new ones do but the power is more than adequate and they handle great. The later of the pre-gearheads dumped the servo brakes so brake service is easier too. I have 2nd generation servo brakes which are wonderful, just a little more complicated to service. It's the only thing I go to a dealer for on service.

I've got 78K on mine, bought new. It runs like a top and it's set up just the way I like it. They are great bikes. Very light for a touring bike, have almost Gold Wing comfort with handling that rivals many sport bikes.

Found out last summer in Colorado that they are not great dirt bikes however. I scratched up my bags pretty badly. Decided to repaint the whole bike. 13 pieces are at the body shop right now. I'll take it in for the fuel system recall and have brakes serviced when I get all the painted bits back from the body shop and reassemble. I'm going to ride the wheels off this one. It's a keeper.

Had this. Loved it, when it worked. Most fantastic engine, but a lot of the plastic did stink.
