Any Reno-Tahoe-Carson Valley dualsport riders want to meet up?

I have a big dualsport, F800GS. Looking for others who want to ride the local region.

Any rides?

as soon as i get my 1100 put back together i'd be happy to join you as i try to break it again... i'm south of Gardnerville, and know for sure that the area E of G-ville and north to at least 80 is covered with dirt roads.

I try to get out as often as I can. I have a KLR650 and don't care where I'm riding as long as I'm riding. I'm also down at the south end of Gardnerville. Being riding this both sides of the Sierra since 1970 so I know a few routes.

So is anyone up for a ride this weekend? Maybe Sunday??

Get in some dirt and see if we can find something fun but not too difficult.

This is also the white mountain research station ride weekend but I am not going to go this year. Its a fun ride but you have to be into a HUGE weekend.

Thoughts? Somewhere fun but not too difficult.

I've been kicking around the idea of track days for a while. Maybe a clapped out SV650 or slicks in my 990?.

Good to know there's civilized inmates around those parts. I may be spending done time over there.

Where do you go for a track around here? Fernley?

I'm starting up a local AMGRASS chapter (Moto Gymkana).. hope to have a first event in June if we can secure a location.

Trackdays in Fernley are at Reno-Fernley Raceway (RFR). There is a road course. 3 miles and LOTS of corners.

Events are put on by Precision Trackdays. (I'm one of the 3 owners). Here is a link to our website: http://precisiontrackdays.com/index.php

We are running this weekend Friday, Saturday & Sunday. The website has lots of info on gear, bike requirements, etc.

Everyday at lunch we have a free ride around "Try-The-Track" which is a few guided laps for spectators to check it out. Come out this weekend if you want to see the place in action. I'll be there working & riding. Should be a fun weekend.

Scorpion,
an SV is a great trackbike. My first trackbike was a Kawi 650R. Similar to an SV. I did my first trackday on my BMW F800GS at RFR with dualsport tires. Lol!! Then I got the 650R. Never looked back.... I'll post some pics later.

Oh yeah & for first time trackday riders it's only $100/day. We always have a free C group class to help newer riders get track skills.

Rob,
RFR has a huge skidpad where you might be able to do an event. I'm not sure what it costs to rent just the skidpad but I can get you in touch with the right people. I'll check out the google group today.

Ok, threadjack over... Or, wait, what were we talking about again?

Oh Shit!

I'm moving to Reno!

Tell me only the good stuff and leave out the bad.
Unfortunately you may be stuck with me a blowhard d-bag from Hollywood drinking all your beer and riding like a rodeo clown

In doing research I havent heard anything bad about the Reno/Tahoe/Carson Valley area.
Give it to me straight, I'm selling my house and rolling the dice.

Very true! We had a heck of a fun ride last weekend. Rode from Reno to Verdi, up Dog Valley Road, and took it (dirt) all the way to Hwy 89 north of Truckee, jumped on pavement for a couple of miles, then turned west onto Henness Pass Road for another mile, down into the valley (dirt) and rode that for an hour or so. Back on pavement for five miles, then onto dirt for another 35 to Downieville for gas and lunch. Then twisty pavement for twenty miles to more dirt, and back to Reno. 160 miles total.

Welcome!

Rob

Hello, new to site and dual sports in general. Are you planning on taking this ride again soon? I'm in Reno and just picked up an '09 Versys looking to do some light duty off-road.
Thanks,
Drew

Hi Drew! Welcome to hell... Err I mean Reno. :)

Yeah we can do that ride again most anytime. What are you doing this weekend?

You might want to join our Google group (link in my sig), as that's where we post rides.
