Low cost, high quality alternative to Desierto III...

I've read alot of good reviews of the Desierto III, but $800 USD is a bit rich for my blood. Well, actually I'm OK with it, but the S.O. is definitely not. She hates it when I say "that's what credit cards are for, honey".

A Vancouver BC manufacturer of dual sport screens (Brittania Composites, you've probably seen some of their fairings around on KLR's and DR's) is preparing to release an adventure fairing for the F800GS, very similar to the Desierto complete with adjustable screen and dashboard to mount switches etc.

Ian tells me the price will be around $500 Can., and the release date is somewhere around September. If I get some info I'll pass it along, until then here's a linky:

I can't eat popcorn and wait with anticipation! I'm about 3 weeks from riding to TT and forking over the cash for a D3 (far less than 800 clams here). If this amazing sounding product is just on the horizon I might hold off if someone "leaks" a few pics and specs!

I'm all about supporting small business. BCL isn't Apple with a new iWhatever so some prerelease info would probably bolster sales, not hurt them.

If this ticks the following boxes, I'll probably buy one instead of the DIII I had in mind.

-Takes stock headlight unit without drilling/modification.
-Allows TT headlight shroud to be used (or has an effective equivalent built in)
-Is adjustable with a wide range to allow for both on motorways and off road.
-Doesn't look terrible
-Has decent mount options to put GPS/night vision/rear camera monitor/equivalent high up above the clocks in the riders' view.

Same here. Even if you couldn't leak a photo, maybe they could give us an idea of what "other model" they make that it closely resembles (thinking the red one on the front page of their website is kind of DS3 looking).

More discussion re. this from the manufacturer starting at post # 295.

Maybe some of the bigger FF could 'persuade' him to leak some design drawings...

Will it stop working properly if I hold it the wrong way?

I just ordered one of these. My Cee Bailey took a rock last weekend and split down the middle.
While not as tall or multi-funtional as the TT D III, the angle is adjustable.
We'll see.
I could swear the part was available when I ordered it. Now the page is saying 2-3 weeks. Maybe I got the last one?

Wunderlich screen

It *looks* like a cockpit cover. I had one on my R12GS, and I loved it! All it covers is the instrument cluster, but it gives the rider plenty of "clean" air! I'm 6'3", and had difficulty even with the taller after-market screens.

On my F800, I've installed the new, similar windscreens made by Aeroflow. *Not* the barn door Aeroflow like I have on my 1150GS, but a smaller tinted windscreen that I like a lot.

Well I got an email from Ian a few days ago saying there's light at the end of the tunnel... these fairings should be available for purchase very soon.

For you local (Vancouver BC) guys, he says Pacific Yamaha BMW will be carrying them. Good reason to go and shoot the shit with Sheldon. nice...

Maybe we'll see a few pictures of the final product up here soon?
