2300 miles on a 250 all for a sticker
It was quite the struggle with the decision I had to make. It wasn't until about one week before my vacation from work that I made up my mind. I had planned this ride long before I bought my F800GS when my only bike was my KLR250. Now what bike do I ride to the Atlantic Ocean with from Michigan? I've already done one long trip on the GS this year. Lets try the 250. After a quick oil change and a good once over I had it all loaded up the night before with the plan of leaving around before sunrise. More pictures and less writing for this RR, Enjoy and feel free to ask any questions on anything I might miss.
![]() Crossed into Canada around 7 am. ![]() The southern shore of lake eire is dotted with these wind turbines. ![]() Also alot of farm land among them. ![]() I couldn't of asked for better weather. ![]() ![]() ![]() My favorite kind of roads started to appear in the rolling hills of NY. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Vermont up next.

Vermont welcomed me with this sign.
![]() Then one you don't want to see while on a motorcycle. ![]() Finally some larger mountains now outside of NY. ![]() I really like these kind of streams out east. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quechee gorge, Vermont. ![]() Whats left of the old man in the mountain. I was fortunate enough to see it 1998. ![]() ![]() Early morning fog outside of Gorham, New Hampshire. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Early morning light after the fog had burned off. ![]() ![]() Androscoggin river ![]() One the reasons for this trip was to return to Mt. Washington. I last visited in 1998 with my parents before I was old enough to drive up the auto road. This time I will tackle it with my KLR250. ![]() ![]() ![]() I checked the summit conditions across the street before going up. Luck was on my side that day. ![]() ![]() ![]() Summit parking was fairly empty at 10 am. ![]() The official summit. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Chains going over the roof to hold the building down. ![]() ![]() More to come later.

It's been a few days, but I got some more done.
Only two places in the US have cog railways. Mt. Washington and Pikes Peak. ![]() Both diesel and steam power are used to power the cogs. ![]() The starting point of the auto road just above the cog train ![]() Now I know why I rode all the way out here. ![]() ![]() ![]() The appalachian trail runs up the west side of the mountain. I took a walk down towards the lake of the clouds. Since I didn't have hiking type equipment on me I didn't want to go to far down the trail. ![]() It's a rather rough and sometimes steep trail on this part of the mountain. The stacked rock piles mark the trail. ![]() ![]() A parting shot of the sherman adams building which houses the vistors center and observation deck. ![]() ![]() Up next Maine.

![]() There actually is no existing covered bridge from that movie. They built a replica over a 'normal' bridge in the town of East Corinth, VT. It's about a minute and a half in on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rH-0k_b9DE |

When I had the pleasure of owning both a KLR250 and a KLR650, the 2fiddy stepped up to provide some excellent adventures on more than one occasion when the 650 was not travel ready.
It provided some great times around Northern New England for this fan of the small displacement machines. Your pics brought back many good memories. Thanks!
