Could someone in Sydney make me a bracket?
Howdy,
I want to mount my VisionX lamps on my DR with a bracket that attaches to a plate that sits below the four supports that come from the fork bracket and above the front mudguard; ![]() ... but I don't have the skills or the metal to do it. If someone wants to swap their skills and metal for my beer I would be very happy - it doesn't have to be fancy and I would think that if I just brought the bike and the lamps it may not take long at all to do on the spot. I am in North Sydney, somewhere close would be good but I need to have it finished by next Friday. PM me if you can offer any assistance. Tony

Are they something similar to this (link)?
If so it ought to be a piece of cake for someone with the material time & skill to make it as it would only need to be a flat bit of metal, aluminium would do the job nicely. If i got hold of the right materials i could do the job, but i'd wager that it wouldn't be pretty, at ALL. aside from the base bit of metal all you'd need is a ruler, drill & bit set, file & hacksaw and you've got it. |

That is the standard bracket that they come with. I need flat plate with the four holes plus a bit of extra support where the lamps mount ( I will try and draw a picture of it and post it ). Tony

I'm in melbourne so probably not too much help but i manage a waterjet profiling company and it would be a 5 min job at the most if i had the dimensions you need for the plate (also carry plenty of 5083 ally in stock). if you can't get anyone local draw up something with the spacing for the 4 bolt holes and approx how much extra you'd need on the side to mount the lights to and I'll post it up to ya express but it might cost you a beer next time i'm riding up through Sydney

If your worried about strength then a simple right angle bend/lip at the front or back of the mount with a few mm of material would be sufficient to strengthen the whole assembly up a fair bit. But if it was made from 5-6mm ally then i can't see it having much in the way of strength issues if it's going to be used for mounting two spotties.
And good on you mags, an absolutely awesome/generous offer. |
