New XTZ 250 Ténéré

Using the name and design of its traditional maxitrail, the Japanese produced the new Ténéré XTZ 250.

This new Ténéré XTZ 250 makes use of the base of Lander 250, which will continue to be marketed, however, with cosmetic changes and dynamics. The motorcycle received a more impressive, with a new optical block, which has two halogen lamps of 55 watts. In addition, the new bike has a half-fairing and a small windshield.
An interesting change occurred in the fuel tank of Ténéré 250, now replaced by 16 liters (4.5 reserve) while Lander is 11 liters. Thus, the Yamaha shows the pretensions of the new 250 more cruisers. Yamaha has also changed the seat of Ténéré, the motorcycle handlebars are lower and the suspensions have undergone changes.

Otherwise, the bike is almost the same as the Lander, with engines of 249 cc engine, capable of generating 21 horsepower. The suggested price for the Yamaha is R$ 12,900 in black and white

That's a cool a little bike. It reminds me of the NX250. R$ 12,900 is about $7,500 USD.

Looks cool, would not sell here in the US if it is a premium price.

XT250, KLR250, CRF230L all priced $3,999 at a dealer I was at today.

For $7,500 you can get a new TE 310 Husky or KTM, who would buy that Yamaha for the same price?

Brazilian prices are way inflated. If it came to the US it would probably be $5000.
I like it.

I can't imagine dual sport riders getting excited about a low fender 250 with a fairing that weighs as much as my LC4. And most commuters want a bit more engine than that. So I suspect it would find the same market here that the NX250 found. As I remember it Honda couldn't give those things away back in the day. It will probably sell great in places where bikes are used for basic transportation. But, for the most part, the US isn't that kind of place.

What killed the NX250 was the goofy wheel sizes and suspension so soft and lame that it bottomed out under braking alone.
With today's gas prices 70-85 mpg is a huge selling point unlike in the late 80's when the tank could be filled with pocket change.

I, for one, would rather die than give up my DR200 for that grossly overpriced motor home on two wheels. Ok, maybe it's not THAT bad lol but it definitely would be pretty close to the bottom of my 100+ motorcycle wish list...
