New thoughts on exhaust coatings for these hot big twins?

Does anyone have recent or updated experience with exhaust coatings. Trying to keep the big beast cooler during summer rides.

Is one company better?

I live in Sacramento, CA. area.

Have used Jet-Hot on street rod headers, not on a bike tho. Very good product.

I had the entire system for my 990 coated shortly after it was new. Ran about 9K on it before coating and another 4+ since. It does make a difference in the heat retention and less does get radiated off the pipe. Bike is still hot but I do notice a significant improvement I just cant tell you how much in regards to temp drop etc.

I'm considering doing this too, for my bike and certain extra-toasty Ducati. Keep the suggestions coming please!

Yep, got to send them in. Turn around time is not bad as I remember.
Good off season upgrade.

We do a lot of coating on bikes, both Cermakrome and TurboX from Techline as we are the Swedish agent for them. Works great, reduces the heatradiation a lot on pipes near the legs and under the seat. It also seems to hold very nice to dirt and wet spray from front wheel. In Sweden everybody seems to prefer the black TurboX coating, not so many Cermakrome coatings done on offroders.

Which coating and/or company did you use, Javier?

I like the look of the black pipe for sure, bad ass.

Thank you for your explanation, if a bike has say 45,000 ams on it and the exhaust is heavily marked up from calcium chloride coated northern roads, will the coating hold or is it better to buy new pipes and have them coated ?

q2 is that ohlins for your SE ?

Apparently there are different coatings. The one i got was higher end but apparently there is one out there that really performs in the area of heat retention better than others.

Somthing to ask your coater about when the time comes in regards to which is better performing for the task at hand. Had I known at the time I would have done the other coating which had a grey color to it instead of the shinny silver one I have now. either would be good and is an improvement over stock.

Just my .02

Check with your local preferred powder coater. I have one that I like in Concord, CA that does ceramic coatings in house. On my DR650, I noticed a big difference on my right leg.
