The 12X12 build...

I'm calling this the 12X12 build because it's all being built in my 12X12 shed. The bad part of this is that the door is not big enough to get the bike with the car attached thru it.Anyway,I have been planning this build for over a year,I have been asking lots of questions and sourcing parts.Today I bought all the steel for the frame ( I used 1.5"X1.5"X.120 )..$65.00,not to bad I didn't think. My goal is to complete this for under $1,000,( if I buy the subframe from DMC,that budget is shot to hell). So here is what I got done today.

Time to fit that shed with a w-i-d-e-r door?

I thought about that, but the way the yard is layed out it would be difficult.I will pull the bike in and fit it all up and then take it off and reassemble outside. It sounds like a pain in the ass and I'm sure it will be,BUT" ya work with ya got "!!

Thumb Shed

I feel spoilt now I got 4metres by about 9metres. That would be 13' x 29' ish.
But no door apart from some crates. Still the show must go on. The american system for wall thickness in tubing I don't get. I remember the imperial measurement days as an apprentice. But we used fractions of an inch more if I am correct and for sheet metal it was a certain gauge thickness. I think 10 gauge is 1/8th inch thick. I suppose yours is in thousanths of an inch correct?

Cheers Bruce.

I had to make a full subframe for the strom so it took all the force from the sidecar.to tell the truth the gs feels
Much lighter than the strom and the power is much smoother builds from idle with a flat powerband.the last problem with the strom seems to be my fault ( no relay iny LED lights circuit) but it showed me that even small problems can be hard to find and fix with computers a FI !!!.I had the strom shut off at 70 mph more than once with a low battery, not much fun !!!!!.

Thanks for the info MR Toast, that was something I had
Not thought about.I had 10 inches of lead on the strom and because of the lower mounts being fixed on the car i can only go about 10.5 inches on the GS or they will hit the foot peg so I hope it's enough.OR I would have to go about 15 inches and then the front of the car would be a foot or more in front of the bike!!!.

Bought some new forks the other day.I got a complete set of LEADING axle forks from a GS1100.This SHOULD make the steering alot lighter ( in theory!!) so we will see how it go's.

Making progress slowly but surley.I have been working on it almost everyday but everything takes soooooo long, and I keep finding more stuff to do.I have finished the saddle bag mounts and bags, the sidecar mounts, and rear suspension.I have been working on the fairing ( fiberglassing and filler).Tonight I got started on the front fork swap, and should have that done tomorrow, and at that point the sidecar and bike can become ONE !!.I seem to have a leak in my rear air shocks but I can't find it.

The leak is between the ears!!

I kid I kid. Glad to see things are progressing Alan. Hopefully I'll actually get to see this one. The other one was gone before I could see it.
