Question KTM Advenure Windscreen

Hi All

First time on this site - just bought new '04 640 Adventure and dead chuffed with it (strange UK expression meaning very happy!!)

I've seen some pics of a tall windscreen on some bikes - anybody got the details?

Thanks

Congrats on the new bike.

I think most are using F650 windscreens.

Check out DirtyVFR's early posts on the "Mothership."

Yebbut don't like the messy ways its mounted and all those lower patterns! A good replica could be mounted on the cusp ie right where the bend is and would look juicy in Black CF or yellow Kevlar; 03 + screen looks so puny!

I just installed a Wunderlich windscreen on my '03 KTM 640 ADV. The screen was designed for the BMW F650 (part number 8110050), but the styling matches that of the KTM very well (I purchased this from BMW of Santa Cruz). I also like the color transition from black at the bottom to transparent smoke at the top.

Installation was fairly easy. The screen includes a v-shaped black powder coated steel brace that provides structural support (the v-shape coincides with the attachment points on the BMW F650). I used this same metal brace for the installation. I merely had to come up with a means of making the metal brace interface with the curve of the bike's windscreen in order to maintain proper spacing and alignment. I accomplished this with rubber grommets that I'd added delrin spacers to for strength and support. The spacers fit perfectly within the rubber grommets that I selected, they were also slightly less than the actual width of the grommets so that the grommets had flexibility to conform to the contours of the bike's windscreen. The rubber grommets also provide vibration damping. The only other addition was longer screws than those which came with the Wunderlich windscreen. I chose 2" stainless steel machine screws. Please see photos below.

Best looking and fitting "not for a KTM" shield I've seen so far. Price isn't a deal breaker either.

Nice job pookie... And thanks for pulling a thread out of the closet with some of Macks posts in it.
