Longest Day 2011 on the posties

The madness all started late one night
The goal to get to camerons corner,where 3 borders of Australia meet ,by sundown
Just a short 1400+km trip
3 postie ct110's ,2 bored out to a proper 110cc and 1 experimental combination of 117cc



24hr fuel 250km in



about 700km in boredom had set in for young Joe as we waited for Phil to change a sprocket back to a 16T



A bit of slip stream riding was require to keep one of the bukes at about 90kph




Around the 870km mark we hit water,alot of water about 1km long and up to .6 of a metre deep





By then a couple of big bikes had caught us,a tenere660 and a v-strom1000



Another 150km down the road we were met by more water





After this run of water we got into the town of Thargomindah to be told there was 1.6m of water over the road about 130km out.
Phil went looking for the local copper to find a way around.Unfortunately or fortunately maybe he wasn't in.The decision was made to call it quits.Word had come in that another rider had hit a kangaroo and was in hospital.Others were stuck or hadn't made it on the larger bikes.2 bikes made to the corner they had come from the south.We got lucky and found a motel owner in town that opened a couple of rooms up for us.Every thing gets shut down when the town is flooded in.

The return trip wasn't without issues
2 bikes took water in and took about 2hrs to get thru and running again



And then a bolt that holds the timing chain roller came out on the big bore postie



The fix take a bolt and nut and turn it down on the chain to hold the roller in solid like a guide




Well it worked all bikes made it home under their own power.A success for the mighty 110, 2160km covered in 68hrs.The return trip broken up into 2 stages as the roos were getting bad and we had come thru a thunder storm that saw lightning hitting a tree and the road in front off us.

Bloody awesome stuff mate! I was so damn keen to hit the Longest Day Ride last year too, but the planets didn't align to see my bike ready, would have been good to meet you guys out there! I actually saw Joe riding out of Noosa your night of departure I am sure as I was heading into Noosa with my family!
