2012 Hells Canyon Rally

So throw up your pics and stories from this years Rally. I think everyone had a great time.

Thanks to Ladybug, Brian, and Margret for great riding, food, and friends. Once again Brian and Margret pulled out all the stops to make us feel welcome.

Here is the crew.

Just some pictures that show the trip from my eyes (which now hurt thanks to EZ's pasty white ass - Great pictures BTW EZ)

JC9 and I rode over from Maryhill State Park Thursday morning. Some areas were pretty desolate

The view from climb up to Tollgate was a taste of things to come.

Got to the Log House Campground just in time to join the tent city, and crack open a well deserved cold beer.

Nice bikes, and nice views from the Campground

The Log House is a special place for Motorcyclists. Thanks guys.

First class facilities (actually very handy)

The next day I headed down to Dug Bar with a group ride led by Asrvior. Some of the great views along the way.

About half way there

Makin progress

Made it there finally. The ride was a true adventure, but never did find the "Bar". At least there was a great one I could enjoy back in Imnaha, after a little "excitement".

After a great lunch and cold drink among ADV friends. I joined a group of riders blazing up to Hat Point. I lost my "mojo" on the ride up, think I was getting tired. Fortunately Marks flat tires, gave me an excuse to take a couple breaks on the way down.

Some ADV sightings from the top of the Hat Point lookout

The view from the top

Another view

Fisherman led a nice (dusty) ride on Saturday to Troy

This really is Canyon country. This was just a creek - the river canyons were MUCH larger

Strange finds on the way to Flora

Flora welcomes

But has seen better days

ADV's doin their part for the community. Pie eating is a "part" right?

Typical camp view. Had some great talks and nice relaxin in the shade. My favorite part...okay maybe not as fun as chasing Mark back to Imnaha to call the troops out to pick a certain MC that broke down. I was finally was getting the hang of KLR on the loose roads, it really did a great job when I took all the luggage off.

Saw lots of wildlife right outside of town. I probably saw hundreds of deer on this trip, along with a skunk, a pheasant, eagles and a very talented rock-surfing camp mutt.

Gratuitus KLR shot. She did pretty good on this trip. Hauled my crap and did good off-road - just not both at the same time.

Typical shot on the ride home. May look peaceful, but was actually angry with wind.

This was a great trip. I'm already looking forward to it next year.

Hells Canyon

Great place and great pictures. My pics all have bikes cause I'm a weird gearhead and so many take better scenic pictures than me...
It was a blue sky week. Sometimes hard to come by in Hells Canyon.

A couple pics of my solo day into the area on Joseph creek rd.

ABS off.

The first day ride out (thurs) was fast & furious on rd 39 down to Oxbow on pavement.
Anyone who can hang on a WR250 is fast. Hey Jessie!
The old guy Paul ( sorry!) on his boxer with street tires cleaned up on everyone on gravel. ...With a fresh shoulder replacement.
Hands down the fastest of the fast crowd. Way to go, I can only dream to ride that well.
I should change my name to mediocre-acceleration...

Next day Friday.
Almost to Dug Bar...

Saturday
Another speed fest. I got to ride with some nutters.
Check your suspension settings.
Fun day, beautiful views, and 210 miles of it.
Good group and some good riding partners. Thank you.

At the bottom from Flora to Troy. Badass bunch of bikes here.

s1marks is a motivated rider.

Our ride ventured back to rattlesnake for more twisties action, then crossed over at Weissenfels ridge road. A beauty ridge with a view all ways that then drops to the Snake river.
Then up Joseph creek rd. Better than camp creek rd IMO, and longer.
Thank you Steve Lavigne for pushing me up that road. A great riding experience!
My little beemer 650 (wink) scoots along.

Mid way break right before Steve toasts his clutch.
Many good miles after that. Sorry your clutch went Steve.

Ironwoods big Triumph, old(er) school. Heavy but fast.

Mr sickle (Ken) has the smoothest riding style. Nice riding Ken, you ride well.

My favorite in town in Enterprise event was eating at Lears.
Older guy Steve owns it. Great food, and great stories from the owner.
Classy old dude. He also did our catering saturday night.
Eat there before he retires.

Thats all I know...
Cheers friends

This was definitely a highlight for me. So much fun! You ride that 800, oops I mean f650gs well.

I guess the nut that holds the output side of the clutch hub got loose and opened up the gap. Tightening that nut in and of itself might have fixed that clutch on the spot. I guess I should have looked past the toasted clutch plate.
