Thanks for a fun thread, took me back in time with the early Paris/Dakar Rally, even though I knew the GS was a great bike, I have ALWAYS been and still to this day a Yamaha TT500/XT500 fan , but I finally wised up and just got my first GS and love it !!!! What a great way to start the weekend on a Saturday morning !!! Cant wait to get my bike back from the shop later on today and go for a fun ride. Thanks !!!

I didn't know half that stuff. You mean these bikes didn't just materialize out of thin air?
![]() I wonder how many FF's from here are pictured there in the slide show in the last minute of Part 3? Anybody recognize themselves? |

After all that time you would think they would have the shaft/final drive perfected!!

It's kinda like the OTIS theory...
They promise you the elevator but they give you the shaft.
![]() In our case: They promise you the final drive but...you get the rest. ![]()

I still love my GS, even if the final drive might go some day. Every bike has its achilles heel. Makes me grin every time I get on. |

There's a problem with the BMW final drive? Please elaborate.
