Handguard - What to choose

Hi guys,

I need to buy handguards (the cheaper possible) , for my F650GS, to protect my hands from the cold wind.

I have these two choices with good price
Touratech (Link)

Ufo Caiman (UFO Caiman_Link)

The UFO seems to have more wind protection, i would probably have to buy the spoilers for the touratech, which would put it too expensive.

What do you think?

i was very pleased with the Touratech + spoiler on my F800GS

If wind protection is number one priority, you should look at the Barkbuster Storm handguards,

I have the BMW ones, they are very robust. Crashing is a part of the off road riding experience. They pass that test better than any of the others I have seen. Dave

The problem with the BMW ones and BarkBusters, here in Portugal, is that they almost double the price of my two choices.

I won't do off-road, i need them to protect from chill wind

how about the SWM named Kobra... They seem really really cool : o )

But if you want some cheap windprotection I'd go with the TT one's. I have them with the spoiler and they deliver descent weather protection.

Just noticed the price thing but still worth it

If wind protection is all you need just buy some gauntlets... Or do what I did and buy some goretex fabric and find the local sew shop and after some careful measurements they can make a really nice water proof set for $50 US

If the wind protection works ok with my heated grips, i can use a mid season gloves or sumer gloves, which i prefer for the better feel.

I vote Barkbusters VPS (http://www.barkbusters.net/products/vps.html).

I was about to buy the Touratech ones until i saw them in person and realized the entire thing is made of plastic.

I decided to buy the Barkbusters because they have a full aluminum backbone.

Mounted up easy no issues, and already saved me a front brake lever after a couple weeks...

I've got the Touratech ones with the spoiler. They've taken a beating and so far have held up great. They seem to rotate on the bar if the hit is big enough. I've fallen hard enough to break ribs and twist the bars in the risers several times and even bent/broke my Givi engine guards to give you an idea. Wind protection is fair in my opinion but not having tried anything else i have nothing to compare to.
