Replacement brake rotors for 990 with ABS - options/where to buy (Australia)
I've searched the forums and so far only established that most of the replacement brake rotors available do not suit the ABS version of the 990. Can anyone tell me which products do (Brand/Part Number) and where we can get them in Oz?
Cheers Steve

Options
Hello,
I'm looking for some disks also. There are some EBC codes mentioned in post 19 of this thread - http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=695229 . Moto-master has a couple of options for ABS 990 (at least for the rear disc). I'm sure they have options for the front disks but i only inquired about the options for the rear disk. "For KTM 990 adventure rear we have fixed rear discs in our range ( not floating like the original ) The 110312 is a Flame design model which has boltholes with a countersink for non-ABS models. The 110403 is a Flame design with no countersink around the boltholes, for ABS models like yours. Availble as from te beginning of february, our new "HALO" series of circular round discs; The 110472 is a round design model which has boltholes with a countersink for non-ABS models. The 110490 is a round design with no countersink around the boltholes, for ABS models like yours. " Hope it helps. |

Question: are they "floating" type rotors? Just kinda wondering if that's ...mandatory. |

There are several UK dealers that list them with a quick Google search... Here is one.. http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/5...rake-Discs/EBC USA dealer http://www.perfectbrakes.com/products.asp?cat=5296 MD6299D front MD6298D rear These fit all 990's as well as the 950's

The non abs 950/990 rotors work well on the abs version as well with a mod that takes 30 sec and costs 5 cents.
It goes like this: Install the new rotors Unscrew the abs sensor Add washer behind the abs sensor Screw the abs sensor bolt back on Done I'm running the galfer rotors. Works great.

EBC Poor Quality
I recently fitted an EBC rear disc to my non ABS 950.
It rained....I put the bike away....it rusted....I'm talking sitting in the garage overnight! Got a replacement under warranty. Was told the coating was faulty? First ride out with new disc....it rained....it went rusty. Sent it back for a full refund and bought a Brembo no more rust. The original was 7 years old and looked better than the EBC after 7 hours. I'm sure they're not all like this but I won't be buying EBC again. Cheers Tim

No, solid rotor. I would hope that the centre carrier on a floater would be coated in some way. I was shocked how quickly this rusted. like an old Guzzi disc!

I tried to email 'Perfect Brakes' twice and they keep bouncing back. Anyone know if they are still in business?
Better still if anyone in the US could try to ring them to see if they stock the EBC MD6299D rotors and post here or PM me it would be great. Others may like this info too. Perfect Brakes, Inc USA 1 (888) 632-8068 1-216-581-8950 email: sales@perfectbrakes.com Cheers |
