Aussie VMX/Vinduro riders ....sign in here!!

I had a bit of an epiphany at Classic Dirt 9 at Lithgow this year, as I walked thru the amazing machinery I was transported back 35 years to when I was a very average C grade MXer and a fairly promising enduro rider.
I loved it, I was young again, no crook back and dodgy knee, full head of hair and no belly!
I couldnt let go of this and in the past few months my mates and I have been bench racing like never before!'
Of course as we are getting on, we were really fast!
Any way, we have decide to let the bullshit stop when the flag drops
So the big bike touring is taking a bck seat this year as I chase my dream, the back has been OK for a while now,and the knee is never getting any better, so I,m going for it!!!!
So my crew and I are evolving from STAG

To TEAM STAG VMX

So who else is into this gig?
And no need to add links to Ozvmx, etc I know about them all, I.m just trying to keep my internet browsing to ADV and several highly reseached porn sites

And I'd like to give a big shout out to all the inmates who responded to my wanted ad, I would have like them all, but a PE was what I really wanted as it was the bike I had most success on back in the day
I was always a Anthony Gunter/Suzuki fanboi, Grunt looked like the type of guy that would have a few schooies with you down the pub then murder a hamburger with the lot, while Gally looked like he'd want to take you on a half marathon then feed you macro biotic lettuce and shredded carrot!

One of the discussions thatb were had regarding, Hey we can ride faster than those guys!!!
Of courss ,one in the picture is a multi Australian enduro title holder and ex ISDE rider, and still rides like a demon, so we believe him!!

I'm interested but not too much single track stuff!

Dunno whether 'Kenny' qualifies as 'vinduro', but fuck it Dave - it's what I got!!

How fussy are the people running these sort of events, are they purists? or don't worry if you turn up on a tricked out 'roadie' conversion???
Cheers
Baza

Montesa enduro 75

This once looked the sexiest thing on two wheels when I boughtit new in 1975. Still runs. Needs a new enthusiastic owner.

This one is 90% restored but needs an air box . Lay down shocks are non- standard on the 74 model.

It is in running order.

Does anyone know a Montesa collector?

I'm with ya, Dave.
I don't get to anywhere near as many events as I'd like to because I work a lot of weekends, but will be making a bigger effort to do less work in 2013!
The PE looks like a really good thing. There's lots of crap for sale out there, but that one looks like a good, honest bike. Well done!
If you see a 70's Mercedes wagon, towing a 70's PE250 and a 70's Ossa, that'll be me!
Come up and buy me a beer!

I picked up this PE off ebay a while back. I've been slack, all I've done to date is have the frame blasted and painted. But, it's my new years resolution to have it finished in 2013.

Great thread!
Probably won't make it to many/any events this year but very interested as I just brought my neighbours IT 490!
So, as I'm a bit younger (34) the early 80's, and earlier, was before my ridin' time but can't wait to get stuck into the VMX/Vinduro gig. Will keep watchin.

Mmmmmmmm PE! I have some great memories of those things, but my all time favourite was the big IT490

I found this on a scrapheap a while back......

I doubt I'll race it, just use it to stuff about in the dirt. Thats the problem with old 2 strokes though eh, they get into your blood and even after years and you're sure you've shaken it off they come back and bite ya.
Have fun with that PE Dave, and keep us posted!
