Thanks for the feedback guys. The photo duties were shared between Simon, Ben and myself so there were plenty to pick from! (around 3000 I think)

It was a lot of fun Greg. The gate episode reminded me of a trip onto the range at Pucka, where we spotted the APC's on the next hill! Good to hear from you. You might be able to make one of these trips sometime?

Thanks for the report, interesting with plenty of relevant pix, well done. On my trips there I have always enjoyed the vast landscape of remote western NSW, it has a beauty all of its own, as long a your not getting bogged or fried!

Hi Nailer,

Thanks. Yes this part of the outback may not have the scale of some other areas in terms of iconic locations but you are right it has its own magic, and plenty to see and do if you do a bit of research before heading off. I am still keen to see more of that part of the state.

We treat the weather as a variable to be managed not a hindrance to the trip, and resetting the plan isnt a big deal as long as the crew take it in their stride, and with this group of guys it was no drama. We always try to limit the risk of bad weather by using the historic weather stats over the last 50 years from the BOM and it hasnt caused us to abandon any of our long trips. Usually just minor changes to routes sometimes required.

See you on the trail somewhere!

Cheers

Warren

Great read! Love it when the truly important details are noted,, IE Bear, Whiskey, or both at the overnight stops...

Interior of the Palace Hotel in Broken Hill

Forgot to put this one in the report. The main foyer of the hotel and the ballroom were covered in murals.

An extra showing how quickly dusty roads can turn to shite. This was about 20 minutes after it had been bone dry......

Thanks Ian,

Loved the outback trip report of yours. Did well on those stock tyres. Highly recommend the Mitas EO9 Dakars for rough and sandy ground. Proved to be hard wearing and stable on a number of outback trips now, including the Kimberley.

cheers WH
