spring break suggestions

hi, im new to the forum and was hoping to find some advise.

my buddy and i are in our senior year of college at NDSU. we want to plan a motorcycle trip for our spring break. being from fargo, we are planning on trailering our bikes south somewhere so we can find 3 to 4 days of good riding. we are looking for tarmac curves and 60+ degrees. also, we are poor college kids and need to keep the cost down.

My choices for Spring Break would be a beach area somewhere in the south. I don't know much about Florida, but Ft. Lauderdale was a nice beach, and would probably be hopping during Spring Break. So would Key West. Neither of them have twisties, though.

There are probably some good beach towns in South Carolina, such as Myrtle Beach or Charleston. Maybe Savannah, Georgia. On your way, you could ride some of the mountains inland from there like the Smokey Mountains.

If you head west, you could go to Santa Cruz. Chat up some hippie students from UC Santa Cruz to find out where the wild parties are happening, or just find a crowded campfire on the beach. Do they still hold 15 keg nudist parties at Bonnie Dunes? Any UCSC student worth his salt would know. There are tons of twisty roads around Santa Cruz, such as Highway 1 near Big Sur, or the Highway 9/Skyline Blvd area (the San Francisco Bay Area mecca for motorcycles). If you plan ahead, there are Youth Hostels for cheap lodging.

San Diego would be a bit higher class clientele, but also more expensive. Mount Palomar is a good ride with a telescope (observatory) on top. For a real wild time, take the little red train into Tijuana Mexico. That is a dangerous area at night during Spring Brake, so be super cautious. Also, you'll need a US Passport.

Look into Panama City Beach Florida... not expensive (especially if you at St. Andrews state park), beautiful beaches, great weather, and so many college girls you'll go into convulsions trying to check all of them out. Plus, some good coastal riding.

True story: my hillbilly wife(that I met while @/near Ft. Gordon , GA while she was passing through on spring break,thank you) has perfect teeth!
True story: her 1st dentist had a pedal power dental drill .
Another true story: I go to U. of KY dental school to get my teeth repairs & they have many out of state students as seems that many states don't even have that school.

Back to MC/spring break- tell us specifically when you leave with the trailer & what bikes your riding,type roads desired or emphasis on chicks & beer, beach time,etc.. then you'll get much better feedback. I envy you, I always had to work or play ball-never had a "spring break".

How about Texas. The Texas Hill Country is supposed to have some good pavement. I don't know the vagarities of Texas weather, but I was there in the Army during March/April and the weather was nice from Dallas to San Antonio.

The other, always hot spot, is Vegas/Phoenix/Tucson. This area would allow a trip to Grand Canyon or the Salt River Valley, or Prescott, if the weather was good. Bisbe, Pipe Organ Park, and Mexico, if the weather was cool. Also, if the weather co-operates, you might be able to stop at the 4-corners on the way down or back and hit Monument Valley or Canyon de Chelly. Hwy 666/191 = great curves.

The TX hill country has some insane roads. Best part is the minimal traffic and cheap hotels.

West Virginia has some good mountain rides, as well as Colorado (like monarch pass), especially for dirt bikes. (although i have yet to go there). The Blue Ridge Mountains is a good spot for the most part. Utah (I hear) has the best scenery ever around the White Rim trail. Death Valley CA (I also hear) is awesome.

And of course everything in the south west beyond Texas has looks of stuff to see as far a National Parks. There is a card you can buy for $80 at any park, and you can get in ANY park for 1 year free if you have the card on ya.

Lake Havasu Arizona. Tons of riding in 70 to 80 degree weather and so many chicks from UofA and ASU during spring break you'll spend your whole vacation knockin the frost off your nuts.

Arkansas, good riding around all these places and not too far from Fargo:

Eureka Springs, lots of cheap hotel room and always hopping expecially on weekends with riders
Fayetteville, University of Arkansas, nice town and fun downtown
Hot Springs, Old interesting downtown, National Park

Lot's of camping around any of those location.

You are talking about riding BIKES during those days , right? ... and not
spending loads of money, right ?.... and not spending the major part of the
break on the trip from Fargo there and back .... right ?
Then Texas Hill Country is as good a destination as any.
For example head for Bandera and park the hauling vehicle
in the county park at west end of town and camp there for about
$8 per night. Spend your days riding the good hilly scenic and
curvacious roads. Good deal all 'round.
Same sort of thing could be done based in several other
towns around the Hills.

I will be riding my cb500/4 and my buddy has a gsxr 600. Our priorities are riding twisty paved roads. Girls and beer are back burner items. We, like many here, have always spent our spring breaks working and we don't want to drop too much of our cash on fuel to get there. So, finding a beach is probably out of the question. Our spring break is march 11-15.

Personally, I was thinking Arkansas but there are some great suggestions here. One of my concerns is weather and road conditions.
