KTM riders: 3 reasons why you should have 3 street bikes?

I need help justifying 3 street bikes to my wife.
Not sure if my reasons can justify it:

1. Enjoy your good health while you have it.
2. I enjoy riding different types of bikes.
3. I am retired . . . you can only do so much yard work and home improvement projects . . . the more bikes I have . . . the more tinkering I can do.

My wife says: "You only have one butt" . . . we should save our money for the uncertain future.

I ride mountain bikes on single trails . . . Which is why I prefer street bikes.

Same situation-- 990Adventure, 950SM, and 950SE. Retired. And you could be quoting my wife .

Life, and marriage in particular, is an exercise in accommodation. At the end of the day if nothing or no one is suffering because of it, does it really matter?

You could say, "Look at the bright side dear, if I have three bikes, that means I don't have four."

Or, you could say, "Look at your shoe rack, then count your feet."

Of course either way, you will probably end up sleeping in the garage.

That's the most hilarious thing I've read in a while. Thanks for the laughs !

I also think it is "sig" material for sure.

You don't have to save money for uncertain future. You might as well be dead in the future. You have to live your live good in the present time while it is still (more or less) certain.

I told my wife that three KTM's cost as much as one car. If I didn't have the bikes we would have another car. I choose the bikes...

I agree, humans have lost their ability to live in the present, always saving up and waiting for the day they can really enjoy themselves. For many that day never happens.
Best to getter done now is what I think. 3 bikes is OK,4 is barely is enough in my shed.
But not all streetbikes in my case.

+1

That was my motivation for buying the 990. 10 years from now, I know I'll have to start scaling back on some of my riding. Enjoy it while you can, or you will go to your grave with regrets.

I've chosen to go with the full spectrum:

2010 990 Adventure - commuting, touring, easy dirt
2006 450 EXC - Long dual sport rides with knarly single track mixed in
2011 300 XC-W Light weight 5MOH & trail bike

Now that I no longer have bikes that require kick start, I am officially old and infirm.

My wife has as many bikes as I do. I've been told that if she ever sees me use "SWMBO" in a posting, that I will be soundly beaten.

The day I bought my white/orange 990, I took the wife on a date & bought her something in white/orange to match the bike. Both of them use batteries and have throttle controls.

The last couple years have been an easy sell for me for new bikes and gear. My wife started riding her own bike two years ago and now she is the one suggesting to me we need new farkles and riding gear. She has two bikes and I have three. She wished she would have started riding ten years ago. She loves it.
On our travels, many riders have told me: "Don't tell your wife, but you are a lucky man."

Life is uncertain...

Just last night, I brought home a friends KTM 990 to test out, since he's selling it. Wife wasn't too happy about this.
But she knows my plan is to pass on my Husky TE610 to my son so that we could transition from off road to dual sport. As I sit here watching the funeral for Officer Michael Crain, Riverside PD, I realize that life IS too short. There is a saying that, "Life is uncertain, death is not". Gonna have some fun with my boy before he's off to college, military etc. (Sorry if I went all Plato/Aristotle on you guys/gals).

Some of the most memorable times I have had in my life were riding with my son...hours together and you aren't being some boring ole dad, something in common years later...he loved my KTM too, by the way..
