Synthetic Oil In Southern Mexico???
Good afternoon gents
We are struggling to find Synthetic oil for Maya, will be needing it within the next few hundred km, we are in Pelanque at the mo heading towards Merida then Cancun. We added 2.5 L of dinosaur oil when the oil pipe split so we have 3/4 clean oil in there anyway but we are due a change shortly and wouldn't mind putting in the good stuff. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers gents.

You should be able to find most any engine oils in Villahermosa, not very far away.

Autozone. There are 6 in Merida and 2 in Campeche. It wont have motorcycle specific synthetic but they have Mobil 1 and several other full synthetics. Any big city will have 5-10 bike shops that service little work bikes and 1 or 2 that service bigger sport bikes. The big bike shop will usually carry synthetic for motorcycles. Could be as much as 200 pesos/liter.

I used the Mobil 1 synth on more than a few occasions in Latin America on my LC8. I had read that it didn't have friction modifiers but was unsure about that. After using it there were no ill effects on the wet clutch that I could tell, so I guess it doesnt have friction modifiers.
I've also used synth diesel motor oil and that worked well too. I also used dino moto oil on a couple of occasions but changed it out after a little more than 1000 miles. Didn't hurt the LC8 as far as I could tell. over 60,000 miles and still uses less than .2 liters per 10,000 kms.

As long as it's motorcycle oil you should be fine..The moto oil usually has a 4T on it but maybe not always.

We can get heaps of dino oil 20 -50 4T, we are in Campeche now so will see what I can find.
Is it ok to keep using the like of Bardhal 20 -50 4T?, would rather do that and change it more often. Remembering here gents we are very much cruzing so no punishing the bike as they were designed for. What do you say Misery Goat and Crashmaster?
