Perfect Desert Dirt 3 KTM's and a Honda XR

Killurtv, The Professor, Uncle Teabag, and I set out for a 2 day ride to SE Oregon and the Alvord. Our goal was to ride as little pavement as possible for the approx 400 mile ride there. 260 the first day and from the edge of Bend to the town of Plush we managed under 15 miles of slab.

Meet up for coffee, bagels, and snacks to bring.

Head out behind the landfill in Bend. This is the last pavement we will see for 90 miles. Nothing but primitive roads and 2 track.
Added bonus. The night before it POURED in the desert making for zero dust and perfect traction. ROOSTAFARI!!!

Killurtv

Uncle Teabag

Safety meeting and enjoying the view!

The Professor headed behind Pine Mountain

Headed to Hampton

Stopped by Dickerson well

Beautiful piece of countryside you are riding. Oregon is full of surprises.

Yes it is. We are VERY lucky to have this as our backyard.

The 2track in the last couple of picks is the type of riding we did most of the way to Hampton. Was some beautiful riding. I took a whole bunch of photos through here. Unfortunately my camera shutters stuck part way and did something to the focus. They're so blurry you can't even make them out. Total bummer.....
Came out by Frederick Butte and headed for our first stretch of highway. 13 miles of highway 20 to Hampton Station.

Hampton's pumps started leaking a few months ago and they had to shut them down. Double whammy for them. It will cost thousands of $ to fix at a place that doesn't really sell much fuel and the pump failed right after they filled their storage tanks, so now they're sitting on thousands of $ of fuel.
The Professor called ahead and they were kind enough to have fuel waiting for us in cans.

Some great food and friendly people at this stop. If you're ever passing through stop by and have lunch or even just pie and coffee. You won't be disappointed!

From Hampton Station we crossed the Highway to our next section.
Wandered around till we came out on the Christmas Valley Highway.

Where the hell are we!

Maybe this way!

Came out in a different spot then we expected but it worked perfect. Headed 2 miles east on pavement then south again on our next section of dirt.
Close to an ODOT station on Highway 395 we go straight across the highway. Our last 20 feet of slab before Plush.
Then head up this hill.

We are all headed to Plush.

But The Professor starts having problems... And it's getting dark.

I tell him to stop pushing cause Plush isn't "just over that hill" and you probably just ran out of gas. Killurtv had a gas bladder on his bike so I rode the mile and a half to Plush and he ran back with the bladder. 15 minutes later they both show up and Professor fills his bike up. But it takes less fuel then it should. Hmmmm
All 4 bikes start up and we head to Hart Mountain. It's dark now.
We soak in the hot springs that night and end the day with a whiskey and beer dinner.
