Hi all, it's been a blast following along on the ride with James and Colleen and getting to know some of you too a long the way. Maybe we'll meet again someday on another trip or on the road somewhere. If any of you are ever in Milw. WI and want to go for a ride or just stop for a beer you are welcome to PM. Mike

Here we are!!!

It was wonderful walking onto the property, walking into the kitchen and then up the stairs to OUR bed!!!

We didn't get home until midnight on Monday.

Tuesday a.m. we jumped in the VW..... that was weird.......where's my motorcycle????

James turned the key, and, click, click, click....... dead battery!

Duh!!!!!

So, we headed out on foot down to Travis and Megan's and to the three boys.....

Actually, our little Jack was there waiting to see us too!

They are all thrilled we are back home. It great to shower them all with hugs and kisses.

It's surreal walking around Claremont and being back home.

There's all of this happiness mixed with loss.

We'll be up at Newcomb's on Saturday morning on our GS's.........

By this weekend, I am going to go back through our pictures, folder by folder and post a few from each folder in chronological order ....... a compilation from day one to our last day out.

Don't leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!

Colleen

Really stretching out, aren't I?

At some point I'm going to have to let go.......!

I have traveled with you all the way (from the confort of my easy chair) and I am happy you took all of us along, I am sad that this trip is at is't end, I will not know what to do each evening without your adventures to read.

Welllll, I left my motorcycle in a container, with a half tank of gas and the keys And when I left it, it had close to 13,000 miles on it.

I'm not sure how many miles will be on it when it gets to Long Beach!

We put a bit over 12,000 miles on each moto.

James started the trip with about 4,000 miles on his bike.
Mine was in the 1,000 range.

those bikes aren't even 1/4 used up. Lots of 60,000+miles bikes on the DR650 thread.

You'll be glad to get them back. Like old friends.

Yes, that's what we decided. Anyway if mine gets a bit 'weak' I can always turn it in to a 790cc ..and fit supermoto wheels and tires ....and...oh well......Elton knows me well......I'll NEVER stop messing with my bikes.

If it was here today I would strip it and wash it and ride it up the mountain (Mount San Antonio, Old Baldy) in back of us.

Darn, I'll just have to see if my BMW R1200GS starts

Can't wait - I'm in!

I thought you'd have a bunch more stuff hanging off the DRs based on comments you made in the DR thread. Nice packing!!

THIS is the thread.

Only thing missing in the pics is the red 26" Texport waterproof bag that sits in the passenger place. We will put those on Sunday evening!

Pics are of a test run up our local mountains. Front end is a tad wavy with all the gear, a bit wallowy going around fast bends, we shall have to slow down. Just as well really.

I really like the 16/42 on the long stretches, but it will be a tad too high a gearing down south so I'm taking 15 and 14, + the spare rear I am taking 43 to try out.

I added pieces of plastic trash can to our windshields and it all works very well indeed.
