TVIP question

Guys - quick question about the TVIP in Mexico. We came across the Santa Rosalia -> Guaymas ferry today. They aduanas on both sides didn't ask for TVIP, we were good with passports and titles.

Do we need to get the TVIP here in Guaymas if were heading east from here, probably back into Texas at Olinga border.

Chris,

I believe you meant Ojinaga

Once you leave the Sonora Free Zone, you will need a TVIP. There is no way around that if Texas is your destination.

PS I met you in Antigua, Guatemala, if you're the Chris from CAT

hey Trice, thanks for the reply. We did meet in Antigua, I remember you coming through and being very knowledgeable about the area. Were you the one looking to do the river crossing border near Tikal, wondering how that went?

So the only other question about the TVIP is - will there be a checkpoint station on Mex 16 when we head East or should we go to the office just South of Guaymas (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...postcount=18)?

The latter is exactly what I would do - should be easy to find since the GPS waypoints are even provided.

Ended up leaving Guatemala at El Ceibo, not via the river.

Just read your report

Too late for you now I bet but there is a MIGRACION and BANJERCITO office present on the south side of Mex 15 east of the junction where LIBRE and CUOTA are together again about 10km east of EMPALME.Open 24/7 .No need to go all the way back to the border zone.
You do need to watch for their billboard as traffic is not forced to pass through the terminal.Easy to spot with its huge Bandera Nacional waving in the breeze though.
