Fuck that shit. There are too many mean assholes out there these days, carry my helmet with me when I dismount. The last thing I want in my helmet is spit, a loogie, puke, urine, shit, a birds nest, bugs, rain, hail.....you get the picture.

Last night I walk outside to see what the dog is barking at. Drunk guy is pissing on huge front window of a hair salon across the street and screaming at the glass.

I'd rather that not be my helmet he's pissing in.

What prompted the question? I see them on mirrors often, but not on a peg.

Because they are an idiot and looking to have their chin strap melted by the exhaust of their Hypermotard.

Ask me how I know.

Haha! Reading it I was thinking about how I hang mine on the passenger peg on my Hyper since i can't hang it on the mirror. I do make damn sure to hang it on the left side after having melted a hole in my Roadcrafter from throwing it over the seat.

I sometimes hang mine on the rear peg while we grab a quick lunch on the road. Especially if the parking lot is wet or nasty. Otherwise, if it isn't on my head it's in the top case.

So if its muddy,the helmet goes on the passenger peg.........

Care to elaborate?
========================================

If I leave a helmet on a street bike its sitting on the seat with a cable lock through it,no exceptions.

(I did once insert a large banana slug into a friends casually placed helmet,but he found it before he put the helmet on.)

Mine's always with me - even when I'm just popping into the shops or standing at the ATM - I could be naked on the bike but as long as I've got a helmet on, the police won't stop me. I can't, and won't, ride without it.

Ever think about how long it would take to find a helmet to buy on a Sunday morning while out on a ride?

My general spares inventory includes a new helmet and a new sump pump. Some spares I will allow to go out of stock for a time, but never these two particular items.

I know you're referring to helmet damage or loss during a ride; keeping a new helmet on hand will likely allow the rider to reclaim the day. Even on Sunday.

Don't discount the assholes who just cut the straps and steal it, even though it is then useless to anyone
