Just a "few slick spots"

Photo and ride report for your comedic relief. Was reminded today that I'm too old. Tried another VCHSS Hare Scramble. One of the locals reported that although they'd had a lot of rain, the course was in pretty good shape, with maybe scattered puddles and a few slick spots. Right. Took the plate off the bike, slapped on temporary numbers, paid the entry fee, lined up with the rest of the riders and slithered into the woods. Wherever there was any thin layer of sandy loam left, it was quickly churned into grease. Wherever the loam was stripped off, it was wet, slick, clay....especially on the uphills/downhills/sidehills....which was the majority of the loop. Picked up the bike countless times, helped a few others pick up theirs, etc. The creeek "crossing" at the end of the loop was full of joy. Was real glad to get the bike back on the trailer. Not even enough energy left to hose it off before putting it up. Aside from the mud left on the bike, I found a lot more of it when I showered. Like I said, I'm too old. Maybe I should stick to the National Forest dual sport rides....nawww.

Hey ED,

Bike looks good muddy. NOBrakes just ran a hair scramble, down here, on his KTM450. He has a ride report in here somewhere. His race was not a fun one either from the sounds of it.

Different color clay mud but the bikes look covered the same.

Good to see your still kicking the KTM around the woods.
Keep up the riding and have fun.

Ray

Hope my lack of ridin' skill doesn't create a bad sterotype for the other more skilled ADVAARPers. Please don't ban me from the website. Gotta ride some more of 'em. Just gotta treat 'em like a trail ride with a lot of better riders in a bigger hurry.
