We rode the bikes

over to the storage unit. The state of our tires:

Blueberry's front D606 from Flagstaff, ~1900 miles.:

Not bad.

Our rears, Pirelli MT-21's from Battle Mountain. ~1000mi. (note too self: these are 130/80's, go with the 120/80's next time.)

I reckon they'll make it through Mobius IV.

One of the

seat / rear rack bolts disappeared. I have to replace it. Took this shot of the one on the other side so I'd remember, and know exactly what size to get:

I know this stuff is boring, but it's actually an important part of how to do trips like this. I've realized that I forget details, notes get lost, and it's crucial to get everything prepped in advance so as not to waste time getting rolling when waking the bikes up again next time.

Cabs

are harder to find in Reno than in NYC. That's for sure.

but eventually we found one after walking almost all the way to the airport from the storage area. It's only about a mile or so. We had a lovely dinner, and had a cab arranged to take us to the airport the next morning.

Not surprisingly

we had some time to kill at the airport.

A little layover in SF to change planes, and we were on our way home.

Ahhhh... finally... RR done. Up to date.

Now, the obsessive route planning, the intensive studying of map minutiae, and the detailed arranging of travel and storage logistics for Mobius IV can officially begin.

Shucks

It's bumming me out that this RR is nearing a close and Mobius IV is still a couple of months away. Can't you guys just drop everything you are doing and get the show on the road?

I can't tell you two how much I've been enjoying this ride report and how much I'm looking forward to IV (and V, ad infinitum).

Maybe we're vampires, or something.
Doc, you gotta add one of these to your camera bag:

http://www.amazon.com/Vanguard-41-VS...lp_edpp_ttl_in

Looks like a piece of junk... but it really works! Small enough to fit in most camera bags, and yet strong enough to hold my Canon Powershot S3 IS (which is a relatively bulky and heavy camera for riding).

Then you can get some pics of both of you :)

Hey Doc have you done any of the OR TAT maps yet?

I will start on mine them next week after I get back from a little DS ride I Colorado. Nevada killed me, hope OR goes better and I do have the adjustments NorthernTraveler posted (Thanks Scott)

Again great report and its helping me with getting the wife to try riding again.

As always, I am ever locked to this thread. I figure the further you two travel, the smarter I will become in my own journeys. Thank you, and I wish you two well in your planning for the next stage.

I have one of those, but we rarely stop for photos. I know... hard to believe but what I mean is we almost never get off the bikes, and pose for a photo. 90% of my photos are shot one-handed while moving. Most of the rest are "stop the bike, kill the engine, snap the photo, restart the engine, pin the throttle, catch up with LDF" I used it for the photos where we pose leaving and rejoining the TAT, for example.

Not yet, I'll probably start routing in a couple weeks... I have to recertify my anesthesia boards on July 11th and should study some between now and then. Or not. I echo your thanks to Scott... he was often on our minds out there... Every few miles all across NV we'd either curse Sam, or thank Scott under our breath.

Is there a thread or list of the latest OR updates / problem areas?
