I might be going that way tomorrow

Hello - I was planning to go from Grayson up to Ellijay tomorrow morning to go on up through Ducktown and then to Telico Plains to do the skyway. I'll be meeting up with my cousin sometime that day coming down from Maryville after he gets off work so I'm not sure I could do the whole loop though. Feel free to call me on the cell today and let me know where you're meeting in Ellijay...

Cheers,
Mark Hall

Will do Mark. I've got your # jotted down in case you'd like to remove it from your post. I need to give some of the folks over in the Dalton area time to check in then I'll give you a ring about where to meet in Ellijay.

You'll be coming up 515, right?

Through Dawsonville to Ellijay

I'll probably come up through Dawsonville, since the roads are more fun that way!

Scweeeett! I was planning on riding tomorrow and this is just the ticket I was looking for! I will be headed out of Jasper if you donlt mind a V Twin joining the pack. I might cut south out of Blairsville to run 129 What is everyone riding for the trip? Total # of bikes you are expecting?

I'll be on my GS (my only bike) and have no problem with whatever you're riding. Some of my Harley riding buddies don't like curves, but they're all doing other things this weekend.

How about we meet at Hardee's in Ellijay around 8:30. It's right on 515 just south of 52. Is that too early/too late for anyone. I'm flexible, but prefer early because it's a pretty long route for a day-ride, expecially adding in stops and lunch.

Mark has the longest ride up from Grayson and will have to leave pretty early to make Ellijay by 8:30.

So far there's the 3 of us. I was hoping a guy from Ringgold might join but I think he's riding Deal's Gap with some other folks this weekend. I usually avoid large groups, but 2-3 more wouldn't be too bad, especially since everyone is talking about alternate routes on the latter part of the ride.

I believe I can get there by 8:30

I'll be happy to head out early and be in the cooler part of the day tomorrow so 8:30 at the Hardees works. I'll be on a GS. It's kind of like a v-twin, except it's flattened out a little and turned 90 degrees! If my cousin can't make it, I can go most of the loop with you then.

Mitch, Mark, and Mike - Hey, at least we should be able to remember each other's names.

Gents- It was a absolute pleasure meeting you both today and what a fantastic day to ride. We could not have had any better weather or traffic. It was great to ride with some new folks. Here are a few pictures from the trip.

What a pair of beautiful BMW's.

Action shot... bad angle... guess I should have turned the camera a bit more. LOL

And passed this beauty on the way to Blairsville....

Thanks again for a great day!

Cool pics Mike.

Sorry I couldn't make it on down 129 any further with you.

Fantastic day for a ride, a couple of wobbly squids not withstanding.

I believe that old Plymouth and its fins were maybe the inspiration for the original Batmobile.

Also, let it be known that whoever said GS's can hang with the sport bikes through the twisties have obviously never ridden behind you. That SV was awesome.

Let's do it again sometime. I'll get you and Mark all my contact info a little later.

Thanks Mike and Mitch

Sorry I couldn't go all the way around with you guys yesterday but I really enjoyed the ride. Mike - thanks for leading, taking the pictures and not leaving us in the dust on the SV. That bike looked really happy going through the twisties!

I finally made it up to Maryville on 129 behind a jeep and a pack of HD's so I coun't get out of 2nd gear through Deal's Gap. My cousin and I headed out towards Hiawassee via some pavement and about 30 miles of forest service roads and other public dirt/gravel roads. I was tired at the end of the day, but had a great time. Let's do it again sometime, guys.

Cheers,
Mark

Here's a couple of pics I made at Deal's Gap.

Note how the GS riders can't seem to hold a good line even into a parking spot. (LOL)

True,,,True

You called that one right, Mitch! Hey, I could never color inside the lines as a kid either. Man, it was getting hot about the time we stopped there.

I feel bad about not bringing the camera now - I usually have it with me. I'll make sure it's packed for the next time.
