Can this rust be covered by warranty?
Cleaning my 09 F650GS today and noticed some rust on the very top to the left fork. The bike is less than 6 months old, will the deal cover it under warranty? I'm assuming water got under the cap, its hard to tell but the rust goes all the way around on the inside, and I can see some rust on the outside rim.

There’s a metal locking ring in there—that is what is rusting—and I would not think that will be under warranty, as it causes no harm. It can be easily removed and cleaned. Then coated with chain lube before replacing the rubber cap. The dealer should do that for you free—as a courtesy to you for buying the bike from them—even though it probably will not be under warranty.

Then push down on the middle of the top fork plug to expose the circlip inside the recess. Pull the circlip out and the fork top should just pop out. You'll have to get the little wire out of the way first, though.
