Saturday Afternoon in the Reindeer Hills
Today's ride was a quick jaunt up the Reindeer Hills which stand just across the highway from home. This summer the shutter monkey and myself cut some trail to climb up into the hills quick and convenient. Once up top, it's wide open alpine!
My ride started out solo. This is what we've got once up on top:
Looking back down toward the north....Back in the forest to the left of the highway is home sweet home.
To the west: RCA hill, Cantwell Bowl, Denali National Park.
A few more photos of the scenery on a splendid Saturday afternoon:
Far below lies the village of Cantwell:
I rode around the southern shoulder of the reindeer hills heading east. This view is looking south with the Denali Highway way down there.
At this point in the ride my cell phone rings and it's the Shutter Monkey. He says he's going to boot up and try to find me. So I ride nearly all the way back before meeting up with him.
The Gas Gas riding photographer, check him out at http://www.terryboydphotography.com
In this shot he's going about 60mph immediately before launching into oblivion:
From our vantage point, we are looking DOWN on aircraft!
That's my neighbor Lance flying over the Jack River.
We rode back over to the south side of the hills and continued riding east along the side of the hills.
This was as far as we got, mostly because of time constraints.
Shutter Monkey on his way back out:
That was it for the pics, since it was a no-nonsense ride home. Pretty Damn Fine local riding territory if I must say so.
Thanks for taking a look.
