I'm revisiting this thread, as I have four days to kill before Thanksgiving and really want to retrace some of this trip. However, I'm on an R1200S now and thus slab-only. I may do what I can and then head east toward Las Cruces.

You can find lots of good slab down there and this is a great time to head south with the cooler temps.

John, I am pretty knowledgable of the slab routes in AZ, but have just started to scratch the surface of the unpaved stuff. December is a great time to explore the lower elevation deserts in AZ. Since I live here I usually escape to Southern Utah or California when I've got more than a couple days to ride. Actually I leave for another Southern Utah Ride tomorrow!

odds are I will be bored sunday monday and tuesday... and I'm always up for a ride on the GS. AZ-Twin may or may not be up for something given the holiday(his family likes him), but he isnt afraid of the highway on his S needs to associate with it's own kind.

I'll PM you my cell.

Rick,

If you make it down this way let me know. Like Lightfighter said, I can usually get out unless we have something family related, but with prior planning I can get time off work.

Read through the Tucson Bulletin Board for more rides, not to mention inmates to go with you. You might also check out the advmap of GPX files at www.advmaps.com.

Dave6253 - your report's inspired me to ride out and hit those roads

I'm planning on riding from central Texas out there first part of Thanksgiving week ... if all goes as planned maybe hit Tombstone Monday afternoon and do the loop Tuesday. If anyone else is in the area and wants to meet up that'd be cool.

Hey! Glad I could help. I just rode the area again Sunday and Monday. Also check out the Chiricahuas. Awesome scenic riding there on roads such as Pinery Canyon and Rucker Canyon. I'd love to join you then, but can't. Ask over in the West Regional forum. I'm sure someone would want to tag along.
