Google maps & gps on a cell phone.

for the new Google Android 2 OS spec type cell phones such as the up coming iPhone competition: Verizon/Motorolla Droid

http://images.google.com/images?hl=e...art=40&ndsp=20

pretty cool for in the car.
doubt a cell phone would survive the pounding of a dual sport nor would cell phone service be reliable way out there, though could work as a secondary device to pull up maps etc. when stopped for a visual view.

With a proper case & support it could work on a road bike. love the google map & street view. requires constant net access so an unlimited net plan and urban areas are needed.

i'm sure city folk will love this thing.

Android will be my next phone

I have been anxiously watching the latest release of android, both the motorola droid, and sony experia x10. Google maps implementation will be best yet, but data service will be required. Are there any mapping products out there for android that store the maps and info locally on sd card? I have been using windows mobile for some time, both pocket streets and oziexplorer as my mapping utilities. Waiting for a port of android for the HTC HD2...
