Just how dorky are these?

I made these handguard wind deflectors today out of..........

A black plastic automotive antifreeze bottle from O'Reilly.

The goal was to cut the wind for winter riding. I think they'll do the trick, but can I wear them without shame? They fit the DIY theme of the bike pretty well, unfortunately.

Well they are ugly but your goal is to keep your hands warm...right?
So who gives a shit what they look like...looks like they will keep the wind off.

Hell I got store bought ones and I think their ugly too.
But they do help.

You're worried about looking dorky on a bike with mermite paniers?

...you know... I think you must have a pretty badass bike to pull these off, and this is your case, I especially like the mermite cans...

if you ever feel like they need to look better and feel ambitious you can try this (awesome):

or check out these homemade muffs:

...either way I like 'em.

Thanks for the video

Either set of guards are great. DYI rules. Can those kids build a deck? I'd hire 'em.

Nothing wrong with those guards man, good grief you're in Oklahoma for cryin out loud not Hollywood.

Marco Polo, your kids are cute as all get out. I watched your video a long time ago and just now enjoyed it again. Your boy has spent lots of time watching dad make stuff I'd bet. He's got all the moves down, eyeballin the project, blowin off the dust, the heel of the hand as a hammer technique.....

Make a copy of that and put it in a vault somewhere.....priceless.

-I agree the video is priceless and the kids are incredibly cute, but unfortunately it's not mine! I just posted it from youtube... It's from one of the guys from the Detroit Greetings fthread but I can't recall who it was... it would be interesting to see what other accessories could be made using this technique...

I tried them out last night for about a 20 min ride. Wasn't cold out, necessarily- 64 deg, but the hands felt great. My exposed neck got a bit chilly, but the hands felt fine. I'd say I wish it were colder for a proper test, but I'd be lying.

Motorcycle > Car. Always.

Therefore, if these will enable you to ride when everyone else is trapped inside their cages, you win.

Therefore, they're beautiful.

Ride with pride, middle finger firmly raised to Old Man Winter.
