Quick Ozarks loop

First of many visits to come to the Ozarks.

Friday Nov 6 2009 afternoon/evening 8 hr ride via interstate system from Baton Rouge Louisiana to Caddo Valley Arkansas via I10-49-30. Boring, no pictures.

Saturday 12 hr ride from Caddo Valley north to Jasper/Harrison on SR 7, than back to Hot Springs, mostly via SR 74, 43, 21 & 7 plus a bit of gravel. Beautiful roads and scenery. Pics below.

Sunday 8 hr ride back to Baton Rouge via backroads of north-central Louisiana. Also great roads and scenery. Much better than interstates, more direct and just as fast, at least if you are coming from the Baton Rouge-New Orleans area.

Enjoy!

Sunrise on SR 7 north of Caddo Valley:

Favorite sign on SR 7:

Rotary Ann on SR 7:

Grand Canyon of the Ozarks:

Cliffhouse Inn, great views, food, homemade bread:

Three inside the canyon. Miles of gentle gravel. These are on Co Rd 59:

Somewhere on the way back just south of Harrison on SR43:

Best burgers in the Ozarks, somewhere on 21, I think:

Two more on 21:

Two on gravel between 21 and 123, I think Forest Service Road 1403:

Day's end, sunset on Nemrod Lake, off SR7:

Shitting in high cotton the next day, somewhere south of Monroe, Louisiana:

I have been by that burger barn but never stopped. Do they have good burgers? Maybe I will stop next time.

I rode in some of this same territory this past week. I had lunch one day at the Cliffhouse Inn. What a great place to ride....wish I had taken more pictures. You didn't by any chance run by a motorcycle with a flat tire on Highway 7 did you?

There's some really great riding in the Ozarks, paved and unpaved.

Glad to see you did some gravel roads. Some of the best sights of Arkansas are on the many County Roads. I don't think you could do them all in one life time.
