Right after parking you'll invariably get offered to join some tailgaters for a beer and/or some bbq. I've met nothing but great people at these events.

I think it fully compatible to say I like NASCAR and also say I love my Ducati and taking it to trackdays and that I love motorcycle road racing.

I had a SCCA road racing license for a while and raced Spec Racer Ford. That got WAY expensive. Also had the opportunity to race a Legends car on a 3/8's mile paved oval a couple of times. My cousin races IMSA Modifieds on dirt tracks. There isn't anything "easy" about racing on ovals. Racing is racing. You need to be good and prepared no matter the type of racing. The same concepts apply to oval racing: you still have to hit your marks, set your turn-in points, fine tune your adjustments, etc.

A lot of NASCAR drivers are bike guys as well. Several top drivers, including Jimmy, started out in mx. Carl Edwards loves his Ducati's.

And you have guys like Tony Stewart who are just remarkable in my opinion. He's good at NASCAR. He's an excellent road racer. You'll also find him racing on dirt tracks (he owns a dirt track as well) in sprint cars, mods, and whatever every weekend. He's a true enthusiast and good at what he does. He can flap his mouth if he wants.

And ya, I'm sick of Jimmy winning all the time too.

Yes, Racing is Racing and I have been to a NASCAR Race it is full of loud V8's and Testosterone. It is a fun day. But if a F1, Lemans, WRC event happened to be in the US on the same weekend I wouldn't ever choose NASCAR. There is no doubt that those guys are driver's and enthusiasts of motorsports. Let's just hope that NASCAR as the sanctioning body can give us more realistic entertainment.

It's almost like watching WWE or WWF whatever. I know he hasn't been caught and I really tend to think it's because Hendricks are so far advanced of the rest of the field but geez it is sad to watch this. I'm done!!

Slooooow minds watching fast cars.....NASCAR

Pantah has it. The Outlaw Sprints will run 180+ mph on a clay track like their hair is on fire. Those guys have a serious pair. Unfortuntely, there is only one venue close to New England and a couple in far New Yawk and PA. But it is worth the trip. when they used to come to the Syracuse mile it was very impressive. Thought the old man was going to win at the Valley this year after dominating the dash. Nope, Delansky came to the A with fire. Dominated the start and re-start and it was over. It is a great show.

It's not NASCAR that won't run in the rain, it's oval tracks. Indy cars run on roadcourses in the wet, but not ovals. Too many cars too close together at too high speed with too little runoff (none), racing in the rain just doesn't work on ovals. NASCAR claims they would run in the wet at a roadcourse, but they wussed out at Watkins Glen this year. They ran the Nationwise cars in the wet a couple years ago in Canada and it was a mess, but I think it was because the rain tires were about 8 years old and hard as rock?!?

I was in the same hot lap session as Stewart at Turkey Night one of the two years I tried to make the show. Didn't make it either time. I pretty much sucked.

They quit running Syracuse after Sammy Swidells wing buckled and he took off like a plane going down the front straight. flew straight and level for a good distance, landed and slid to a stop with no damage. His crew ran out with another wing, and Sammy said fuck that.

I agree with original poster... that said, seeing anything live is fun, and Nascar on a road course is still kinda cool... atleast they turn right.

Used to be a big NASCAR fan back in the Petty, Yarborough, Allison era. I
thought there was nothing better... until actually paid attention to something else, namely motorcycle racing. Now , to sit and watch cars go in a circle for 500 miles just doesn't make sense any more, the road courses
are much more interesting.

I think one reason for NASCAR's popularity is that ovals are more spectator friendly in that you can see the whole track from your seat. No watching the pack go by and a minute and a half later here they come again. But sitting on a bench packed in like sardines for 3 hours just isn't my idea of a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. To me, it's better to be able to roam around and see the track from different vantage points, or sit at the fence in a comfortable chair, or a little bit of both. Freestyling!
