What happens when you tip your airhead on its side?

My gear lever seal was leaking and I lowered the R100 softly on its right hand crash bar and replaced the oil seal. Now when I start it up for 5 secs or so it blows a lot of blue smoke. It seems engine oil has made its way up into the oil breather system and into the carbie. I can put my finger underneath the plastic inlet to the carbie and feel oil. Am I on the right track?

The bike only blows blue smoke on cold start up. Once going or starting when warm. The bike blows no smoke at all.

The engine oil level is just over 3/4 full. I have not over filled the engine, as that will force oil into the breather pipe.
