I appreciate the offer, but I don't think that'll work out for me. I'll just play it by ear.
I'm excited to come and ride with you guys again.

Room for one more?

You all got room for one more? I just bought a new to me 950 adv in palm springs and I'll be in Portland Saturday afternoon abouts and looking to explore the area.

Got a full set of knobbies on her now and don't mind breaking off solo if it gets too hairy for the bigger bike.

There's never any 'control' over who shows up, it's come as you are.

I am juuuust about to go on my first significant ride with the DR.

I am super excited to get my pretty 'new' bike muddy and scratched to hell tomorrow!

So it's been proposed that the meet up time for tomorrow's ride be moved to 10 am. That is 9 am if you forget to set your clocks to Daylight Savings. Again, the plan is to meet at Starbucks in NW Industrial (Address/directions: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=522958)

We usually end up leaving soon after the designated meet-up time. Arrive early if you want to BS and/or have a coffee. My phone number is 5oh3-sev8niner-ohfour2six, in case you need to call with a lame excuse as to why you'll be just a few minutes late, and could we please wait for you.

Just rode out there - Things are surprisingly dry-ish.

I am not impressed with the rear trials tire - It basically just spins and spins no matter the speed or terrain. I will probably be the slowest rider tomorrow!

See you at 10.

(PS For those that haven't ridden this area before - It was a good 10 or 15 colder up in the hills than it was in Portland, so dress appropriately.)

Do you guys mind if a noob shows up (that's me)? I just picked up a new-to-me DRZ and I'm dying to try it off-pavement. Is the route going to be too technical for someone with little to no dirt experience (I mountain bike and maybe have about 50mi of dirt riding on a street bike so I think I'll be some-what comfortable, just not skilled)?

We've never had a problem taking just anyone. One time a guy showed up on a old CL350 Honda, and he rode some pretty impressive dirt\mud with us, then turned around and went back when it go too tough.

Just show up, ride your own ride, and if something is over your head, don't be afraid to say so and opt-out. We're good about stopping and waiting, providing advice, and helping pick up the pieces when it all goes terribly wrong.

I'm on a new-to-me bike that I've only got 70 miles on so far, so I am right there with ya.

Nice pics!

Peice of crap DR350s always breaking down. I gotta get me one of them KTMs!!!!

(I am 99% sure Mat had a clogged idle jet. All of the sudden his idle came way up, probably because we had turned it way up to get it to start, and then the problem cleared.)

Before the bikes got muddy:

We are not skirting a gate ... just following the already-established alternate route around it:

DAKEZ shows us how EZ it is:

Regarding what WB was referring to, after a low-side on a sloppy corner, and some subsequent whoops, the DR had a problem starting. We first thought it was a tweaked side-stand switch which we summarily shorted. It would then only start and run with full "choke"; it was seriously backfiring on the ride down; then the idle started hanging around 5K; but on the road back home it cleared up. It seems to be fine now. Something must have gotten clogged in the carb -- pilot jet?.
