Yamaha TW200 Ride - Alpine to Idylwild - California

A beautiful day in sunny San Diego - So my buddy Chuck and I decided to head to Idylwild for a nice mid-day breakfast at the Red Kettle.

235 miles altogether - Averaging 62mpg - Total trip time including all stops and breakfast was 7 1/2 hours.

Here is the track:

Spot Adventures

And here are a few photos of the trip:

Up Wildcat Canyon from Lakeside you'll run across the Barona Casino:

met up with Chuck at Packard's Cafe in Ramona. He just a few weeks ago picked up an '08 Suzuki Bandit 1250... Very nice... I promised him I'd keep the pace slow so he could keep up:

We shot up Old Julian Road - Not a lot of folks know that there are tons of vineyards and wineries in the San Diego County area:

Just before Old Julian Highway hits 78, you'll see something a bit strange... What are those???

Oh my goodness!

Here is a view looking West toward Lake Henshaw off the 79:

Beautiful time of the year in San Diego:

Chuck liked it so much he wanted in the picture:

Passing the Warner Springs glider port:

Climbing up into the Anza area you can see the oaks starting to disappear, and high desert coming into play:

Just South of Anza looking North at Big Bear Mountain:

And once we turned onto 74 North, the pines start to come into play and we move into true mountain territory - Big Bear Mountain again:

Heading home I had to say hello to these cute fellas:

Nice little valley just North of Cuyamaca Lake:

And the last shot of the day - Looking South off Highway 79:

Nice RR. Once you've gone fat (tire), you'll never go back.

I hear you - haven't had this much fun on a bike in 30 years!

I'm even planning a 3-day 1000 mile trip on the old gal...

T dubs... all fun and frolic!!

Love my 2005. It's so nice to be able to ride and not worry so much about a heavy, pricy bike! Just look around and enjoy the ride!!

Nice RR!
