Effecting trail on an 1150GS

If I were to put an Adventure shock up front that is 1" longer than stock do you think this would effect trail in a positive way?

If the front is raised it will change the angle of the steering head slightly which will increase trail slightly. How much? Probably very little.

So if I undertand correctly, raising the front will affect negatively the handling. And B.E. coyote wants, of course, to decrease the trail to ease the handelbar effort. Claude, could you confirm this?

Go top the sidecar industry council site or sidestrider.com and look at the pictures on how trail is figured and you will see what happens when the steering head angle changes. Again, raising the front may create a trail increase but it will be slight.

To answer B. E. coyote, a longer front shock will effect the trail in a negative way (even sightly), I'm correct Claude?

hmm' well I have a pair if standard shocks and a pair of adventure shocks. If I can make even the tiniest improvement with a little work and no cost, it is probably worth trying.

I'll wait to see if it is the back shock or front shock I should switch out.

Shorter rear longer front but the change in geometry will be Minimal.

Thanks, hopefully this with a taller front tire will give me something.
