Is anyone interested in a ride Sunday morning (the 27th) or is everyone going to be out of town attending the PNW Gorge Gathering?
I'm not sure if I'd be up for leading, unless you're interested in seeing how slow you can get lost, in which case I'm your man I was thinking either Scappose west or maybe Three-corner rock, anybody know if that's a decent ride? I'm open to suggestions. |

Sounds like a good ride, Biped. Wish I could make it, but can't.
Again, I'll be out in Hood River area all week starting on Monday. Apple Jam has indicated he'd be temped to take some time off work to ride. Anyone else? PM me.

Biped, I'm in. If you're coming from Aloha you have to go right by my neck of the woods. Is there some place closer than Welches to meet up? |

Sunday Ride
Biped led a nice ride over old Barlow road yesterday with Dale (sorry never got your handle) and I in tow. After the mandatory pre-ride banter we set off. Biped soon lowsided on some sneaky gravel turning off 26; not a promising start. Then came the road closed signs. At this point I thought maybe this ride was doomed. Luckily Biped doesn’t let a road closed sign deter him and carried on. It all turned out great, and I never did figure out why the road was closed. I had to take off back home on pavement while Dale and Biped returned home on dirt.

Jalles, Dale, it was a good ride, thanks for comming along. No i did not fall, not even twice, no pics, never happened. On that subject, Jalles did not fall but did put his bike to sleep.
![]() The weather was great, not too cold and the skies were clear. Hood from Trillium lake. ![]() Deep in the woods looking for cougar, or is that Cougar. ![]() Another view of Hood just before Wamic. ![]() Jalles, you did a great job, I suspect you will be doing many more DS rides this year. Dale and I rode back on the trail the way we came and then hit tarmack back from Gov Camp. Dale took me trough the paved section of Barlow road back to Troutdale, which helped me with my road skillz... |

Well, after a lowside on pavement at the start of the ride and a rapid dismount at Devils Half Acre towards the end of the ride, I now need some repairs to my pants. Anyone know anywhere in PDX where I can get a new arse stiched on.

Were you guys on the trails in Pole Canyon Sunday? I thought it might have been you. I was in a group of 4 with a KTM 950 near the front of our group.
I think we were on trail 130 or 160 when we saw a group that looks like yours.

Don't think so, we were between Mt Hood and Wamic. (not that I know where Pole Canyon is) Did not see any other riders out, not that I look around much.

He meant Post Canyon.
![]() Any reason why you couldn't take a big piggly bike over the Barlow Road? I'm thinking about testing out the new suspension on the V-Strom this weekend.

I've drove most of it in the ol'Blazer................I don't think it would be a problem on a Strorm.

I suggest you ride the steep sections both ways to evaluate your work. You want to learn if it works better going up hill or down hill. If better going down hill, then consider less preload on forks. If better going down hill fast, try less compression. When going up hill: If it feels really good going uphill fast, then turn around and try downhill fast for comparo. Might need a bit more front preload. And so on. All this "work" will comsume a lot of beer; that is what the tavern down the hill in Wamic is for: evaluation of the results!
