Quick one: Glacier - Missouri River Loop
My 4th of July Sidehack camping trip was a flop when I broke an exhaust valve spring 100 miles into the trip.....
This weekend my wife drove a couple hundred miles to go baby sit the grandkids so I dug my other ride out for some exercise. It's been sitting since last November. Wonder if I can remember how to ride a "two-wheeler" again? Gave the old girl a quick once over. I installed a 900cc top end since I had the sidecar attached to this bike. I've never ridden it solo since extra cc addition. Left Geyser Montana at 8;00 am Sat. North to Browning (and the North American Indian Celebration parade...took an hour to get through town) Entered Glacier Nat. Park at St, Mary. Through the park to Colunbia Falls, Kalispell, then Missoula for the night. Today was Missoula to Lincoln MT. over to Wolf Creek MT. then followed the Missouri to Great Falls and "home". Approaching Glacier there are some wonderful views. Yours truly...(no smart ass comments about the chaps!) "Going to the Sun" highway turns to gravel part way up the mountain (road construction)...I had to laugh at many of the Custom Harley / Chopper guys who were nearly in tears riding their "showy" bike in the gravel. A few sections had water running in the gravel making up a light "stew". I bet a lot of toothbrushes are busy tonight. Have to showcase the "BMW DOG" sticker for my friend Rex. Going over Logan Pass...the west side of the mountain.... Too many water falls to count Took minimal camping gear so decided to hit the Missoula KOA as I'd never been there. Hooked up with three guys from New Jersey who had just came south from Alaska. Yes the Harley/trailer combo made the trip too... We drank too much, talked too much, and next thing I knew it was 2:00am...Great group of guys...I was up and gone this morning before the Easterners were up and about. Rogers Pass, Montana BRRRRRR Missouri river Last Photo...about 80 miles from "home". Uneventful conclusion for the weekend. The two days went too fast as usual. bmwhacker screwed with this post 07-12-2010 at 08:46 PM |

Very familiar with so many of the scenes being so close to here.
Great stuff!

Thanks for sharing. I put Going To The Sun Highway as one of my 5 favorite places to return too many years ago and it's still up there in the top 5.
