remember that line from some old movie.... it was something like "don't bury me, I'm not dead yet"

Great theme for an "Old's Cool" rally.

Bring out your dead!

I'm not dead, yet.

Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you must keep moving.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved. Hell, some of the places I’ve been there weren’t even roads!

This arrived last weekend.
1991 R80GS 137K(ish) US$1730.00 ($2400NZD)

Very rusty spokes, exhaust, dead battery, shock gone (bought spare shock for $75US) but apart from that not too bad.
Had it running off battery booster the other nite & sounded prety smooth but will put new battery in it tomm & take it for a short spin to see what needs attention

Here it is with my KLR. Sorry to the BMW purists but I'm gonna have to take most of the stuff off it (& keep for resale later) & give it a more stauncher paintjob.

300 Mile Bimble

Having recently been laid off from work, I have been at a loose end, stuck in limbo between finishing my old job, and waiting for the all clear to start with my new firm, so I have just been out playing with the bikes, hanging at my local shop, and generaly just chillin as you do.

Well yesterday i got up late, sorted out a coffee, and uncovered the R80ST, checked the oil and pressures, loaded the kit, and headed for Wales, I had nowhere to go, and no reason for doing it, but what the hell, the sun was shining, and I had a tank of gas, lets go west.

pretty soon, and a hundred miles later I was in the back roads of South Wales, and time for a drink and a picture...

Soon I was moving again, but not as fast as the clouds, so I headed North towards the Brecon Beacons National park, an area of outstanding beauty they tell me, I don't know for sure as I have never been, but I have a BMW and a GArmin zumo, so we shall go see.

Pretty soon I was getting close, and the landscape started to change....

Then after mile on mile of tiny little lanes we crossed a cattle grid and entered the park...

Mile after mile of these lanes through spectacular scenery

and the further you went, the better it got, but as you can see the weather was closing in too

Just after that last picture the rain started, and I headed out to find a camp ground, but then it really fell from the sky, and before too long I was soaked to the skin, and could only see a few yards in front.
So leaving the park I crawled along until I found a services, were I changed into some drier clothes, and drank a coffee or two, before admitting defeat and running the 140 miles home, and a warm shower, and cold beer.

Ok, it is an ST and not a GS, but the thought was there

It was fun though, and I will return, as I only clipped one small side of the park.

Just got home from Alaska

Hi All, Just returned from an 8000 mile round trip - Colorado to Prudhoe Bay Alaska on a '91 R100GSPD, mostly camping along the way. I did not see another airhead above the lower 48. Turned over 66K on the trip.

That is the Alaska pipeline in the background. I ordered less rain for the trip but no one listened.

You must not have hung out with George at the former Trail's End BMW in Fairbanks. Believe it or not, there's a pretty good community of airheads up there. Here's George in the 'service area' of his former BMW 'dealership' in Fairbanks. One hell of a character.
